Are you really comparing Kirk's soloing to Dave's just on this particular solo? Even you don't remember the original track of FWTBT, Kirk is basically wanking the guitar for the end solo. He's always done that live. This isn't a solo that can even be tabbed out, really. It's just abusing the guitar and having fun and not meant to be taken as a serious, heart-felt solo. I'm not saying he's better than Dave. He has great solos, but Kirk has great solos, too.
James isn't the best rhythm guitar and isn't the best metal vocalist too.

yes,thats for me is new.because slash is very talented.no doubt.his tone,his solo is top notch.but he lack skills.and his songwriting is rather decent nowadays.most of velvet revolver song is decent with sometimes unmemorable riff and filler solo that feels out of place.kirk have a talent at created solos that suited with the songs and that talents doesnt fade out yet.he also better and faster in terms of speed and tecnhicality.

speed, yes. technicality, DEFINITELY not. i have learned slash and kirk hammett solos. slash's solos are much harder depending on the solo. slash's hardest solo is way harder than kirk's hardest solo and slash's phrasing blows kirk's out of the water. kirk hammett usually stick's to one or 2 speeds and scales during a solo. slash incorporates many scales and speeds during solos. for example, sweet child o mine has natural minor, harmonic minor, and pentatonic scales within it.
yes it does. technicality is technique, that doesn't just mean how hard your stuff is to play. if you incorporate a whole bunch of different techniques in a good way then you are technical. sweet child o mine isn't even close to his hardest solo anyways. phrasing is the timing and choice of noes. slash also incorporates key modulation here and there which as powerful sounding "technique" and kirk often plays out of key and misses notes live. sloppy =/= technical.
you don't have technique if you can't play something cleanly. if you do a karate technique wrong then you are criticized for it and you don't get to the next belt because your TECHNIQUE IS TOO SLOPPY!!! the hardest slash solo is either nothing to say or paradise city. i think the nothing to say solo is the hardest. some kirk hammett solos sound hard, but they are really just simple patterns played really fast. they aren't hard at all.
don't know. they're all very similar. usually go descending in 4s and 3s and ending in string bends. some sweep picking and tapping thrown in the mix occasionally. dyer's eve is probably his hardest solo. that's the only solo i would ever have any trouble with.
both paradise city and nothing to say is fast but nothing to say is harder to play.but as hard as it be,it is kinda easy for me because of the pattern he uses.its like a legato run from the start which is the practice that i usually do.but he very creative in making all that pattern like 3 pattern that uses same note in a single phrase and i have a new respect for slash.u r right he is very creative.while kirk uses the same pattern all over again.
but kirk do have an edge with his 3 string appregios and his rapid string changing pattern.for me,kirk stuff are harder to play,but,maybe because of my style of practice suited slash technique.overall,slash is a better guitarist, and i just blown away by his patern changing tecnhnique which is much like marty friedman.kirk should learn something from him.anyway,playing out of key shouldnt be much problem because when it suit perfectly with the solo,it turned out to be just fine.
kirk makes some good solos and some bad solos. fade to black, master of puppets, dyer's eve etc. are good, but battery, one (one just sounds like an attempt to be as fast as kirk possibly can), pretty much all of his improvising and more are just senseless wankery. im more familiar with the patterns kirk uses, they're he first scale patterns i learned. i don't think playing out of key is ever acceptable and i don't think it ever sounds good, but that's just my opinion.
i do think one solo have that have his own feels,and it suited the song really well. playing out of key can be suprisingly good, and megadeth holy wars early riff and lucretia shows that. well, good luck on your guitar playing.

holy wars uses chromatics, they don't play out of key. as for the key changes in lucretia, i can't name specifically what they are. i could figure it out, but im too lazy and have better things to do while playing guitar. what i will tel you is that once you start listening to a lot of jazz and play to backing tracks with lots of key modulation it is really easy to spot a key change. just listen to allan holdsorth. key changes every 5 seconds lol.

Are you really comparing Kirk's soloing to Dave's just on this particular solo? Even you don't remember the original track of FWTBT, Kirk is basically wanking the guitar for the end solo. He's always done that live. This isn't a solo that can even be tabbed out, really. It's just abusing the guitar and having fun and not meant to be taken as a serious, heart-felt solo. I'm not saying he's better than Dave. He has great solos, but Kirk has great solos, too.

If I hear a Mustaine-solo, I feel virtual nothing.If I hear a Hammett-Solo, it's usually just beautiful. Music is not like football, it's not who can play more notes per second. Look at Billy Gibbons for instance. He sometimes plays one note for several bars, but it's the right note. There is no point about discussing who is better,you can only discuss what you like and why.

Kirk Hammett was good only in the 80's, after which he gave up trying and got completely lazy. i was responding to a comment dissing on slash. i wouldn't be talking about slash otherwise, and i normally don't talk about different guitarists when im making fun of a specific one. as for better english, you're going to want to hit the space bar after you hit a comma or a period. next of all, separate singular words and plural words when you said "a kirk haters" that confused me. you were supposed to say "kirk haters" and leave out the singular "a" since it's plural.

yes,thats for me is new.because slash is very talented.no doubt.his tone,his solo is top notch.but he lack skills.and his songwriting is rather decent nowadays.most of velvet revolver song is decent with sometimes unmemorable riff and filler solo that feels out of place.kirk have a talent at created solos that suited with the songs and that talents doesnt fade out yet.he also better and faster in terms of speed and tecnhicality.

speed, yes. technicality, DEFINITELY not. i have learned slash and kirk hammett solos. slash's solos are much harder depending on the solo. slash's hardest solo is way harder than kirk's hardest solo and slash's phrasing blows kirk's out of the water. kirk hammett usually stick's to one or 2 speeds and scales during a solo. slash incorporates many scales and speeds during solos. for example, sweet child o mine has natural minor, harmonic minor, and pentatonic scales within it.

yes it does. technicality is technique, that doesn't just mean how hard your stuff is to play. if you incorporate a whole bunch of different techniques in a good way then you are technical. sweet child o mine isn't even close to his hardest solo anyways. phrasing is the timing and choice of noes. slash also incorporates key modulation here and there which as powerful sounding "technique" and kirk often plays out of key and misses notes live. sloppy =/= technical.

you don't have technique if you can't play something cleanly. if you do a karate technique wrong then you are criticized for it and you don't get to the next belt because your TECHNIQUE IS TOO SLOPPY!!! the hardest slash solo is either nothing to say or paradise city. i think the nothing to say solo is the hardest. some kirk hammett solos sound hard, but they are really just simple patterns played really fast. they aren't hard at all.

don't know. they're all very similar. usually go descending in 4s and 3s and ending in string bends. some sweep picking and tapping thrown in the mix occasionally. dyer's eve is probably his hardest solo. that's the only solo i would ever have any trouble with.

both paradise city and nothing to say is fast but nothing to say is harder to play.but as hard as it be,it is kinda easy for me because of the pattern he uses.its like a legato run from the start which is the practice that i usually do.but he very creative in making all that pattern like 3 pattern that uses same note in a single phrase and i have a new respect for slash.u r right he is very creative.while kirk uses the same pattern all over again.

but kirk do have an edge with his 3 string appregios and his rapid string changing pattern.for me,kirk stuff are harder to play,but,maybe because of my style of practice suited slash technique.overall,slash is a better guitarist, and i just blown away by his patern changing tecnhnique which is much like marty friedman.kirk should learn something from him.anyway,playing out of key shouldnt be much problem because when it suit perfectly with the solo,it turned out to be just fine.

kirk makes some good solos and some bad solos. fade to black, master of puppets, dyer's eve etc. are good, but battery, one (one just sounds like an attempt to be as fast as kirk possibly can), pretty much all of his improvising and more are just senseless wankery. im more familiar with the patterns kirk uses, they're he first scale patterns i learned. i don't think playing out of key is ever acceptable and i don't think it ever sounds good, but that's just my opinion.

sorry dude, but there is a difference between playing out of key and key modulation and chromatics. lots of thrash metal involves chromatics, as does blues and jazz. it's not playing out of key. not a single moment in lucretia was out of key, but there were some key changes. thanks though, im doing fine with my guitar playing. i'll be posting some original material eventually, but first im going to post a betcha can't play this :)

holy wars uses chromatics, they don't play out of key. as for the key changes in lucretia, i can't name specifically what they are. i could figure it out, but im too lazy and have better things to do while playing guitar. what i will tel you is that once you start listening to a lot of jazz and play to backing tracks with lots of key modulation it is really easy to spot a key change. just listen to allan holdsorth. key changes every 5 seconds lol.
