  • LOL cant resist! @mellocrux3 Thats what she said ;)

  • @ maoriilyfe , that's how i am. i play by ear without knowing what the symbols are. either way, what matters is that you can play the song.

  • what if you dont know anything about the muscial symbols but you know the keys on the piano

  • really like the way you teach, this is one of my fav song, i just try to play piano and u teach it very well, i will try .

and your others videos, teaching how to read sheet are very nice too, easy to understand! thank you!!

  • awesomeeee!!!!! thank you! i loved it, the tutorial is so amazing, great job :D

  • awesomeeee!!!!! thank you! i loved it, the tutorial is so amazing, great job :D

  • wow!! you really worked hard just for a tutorial! you labeled ur piano, u researched all things that you didn't know so u can explain to us what those mean, you have a clear accent which i like, and most of all, ur kind enough to do this tutorial..

  • I can't find the piece on his website!! help me please...:)

  • Good job :D God bless!

  • hi ,, thank you for the vid ,, but i can't play it ,, co'z i only have small keyboard just up to C5 ,, ^^

but nice video ,, you teach people how to read sheets ,, its a big help for me ,, coz i dont know how to read ,, ^^ but i have now a idea ,,

  • G STAR! \m/

  • zoom in pretty please and please show the notes with it

  • ur indian right???

  • The small line connecting two notes it called a "tie" and it works as a addition sign to the two notes. For example "quarter note" + "quarter note" = "half note" (and that's how long you hold it for)

  • if you want the piano sheets just get them at file tube dot com and type on the search utada hikaru first love pdf and copy and past the URL link of the one from rapidshare :)

  • it is gud but it is better when u make a faster version of this song

  • love your accent!!!

  • awh, i love how you walked me through it, but i just wished

the angles on you playing the piano was better.

  • thanks for the tutorial. do you have the sheets cuz the sheets arent't on the site. thanks

  • what country are you from?

  • HAHAHA!!! YOU'RE SO COOL!!! Could you post or send me the sheet music please? Thanks!:)

  • that second is called a syncope

  • do you have a video of this in normal speed? so i can get an idea of how it really sounds like?

  • It is called a tie, it means like if u have 2 quarter notes for example then u add the beat counts for both so yea your on the right track you hold onto it and not play the second note. You play the 1st quarter note for 2 beats instead of 1 beat , 1 beat. :D

  • i meant the real tutorial of the song lol

  • and me? Please! I want to learn this song so much!

  • Can u send me the Music Sheet please, thank you

  • mind sending the sheets?TY

  • Heya man, nice tutorial but can I make a suggestion? Please could you post a video of you playing it at the normal speed? I'd love to use that for reference also!

    Thanks loads,

    Jack

  • aww you have an indian-british accent. lol at least i think?

  • you're a brilliant genius

you've helped me so much, thank you! (:

  • u look like anoop.. hehe

  • would you send me the sheet music via e-mail? the file is removed from the web site...

  • i emailed the guy and he sent it to me.

  • hehe :D AdoBE! lol :)

    that made e smile.

adobe. a lone eeeeee at the end hahah :D

  • Heyy I was wondering if you could send me the sheet music link thanx

  • love it. thanks so much! ^^

  • well done, clear explaination. thanks mate!

thumbs up if you think he did a great job!

  • The "U" in "Utada" is pronounced as 'oo' like 'oo' in the word "boot"

    :D

    Thanks for the tutorial! :D

  • ...

  • do you have to have 8 octaves to play this song cause i only have 5

  • Do you have to be so rude, you fucking prick.

  • it's called a slur. and your supposed to hold it for the second note :P

  • Why doesn't that link have the sheet music anymore? :(

  • The line means . Play the note [then the line] the the note after the line the note is staccato. means just hit the note shortly.

  • when ur playn it i would like if the camera was a little closer but other then tht great XD

  • i love your accent :)

  • Yeah, you zoom in so people can see.

  • next time zoom closer plz

  • the bottom lines mean you combine the value of the conjoined notes, like if theres a half note and a quarter note then u hold that not to get 3 beats if there is one of those lines in between

  • what's the site?

  • put the camera closer and slow down the keys look tiny

  • the line you are referring to in 3.00 is called a tie.

  • Its called a tie.

  • i totally agree. it was one of the best sheet musics for first love. LOL

  • The little line is called a tie and it joins the two notes together as if they were one note

  • The little line is called a tie

  • hey dude, thanks for the link to the sheet music, it's among the best I've found online... you need to work on how to teach the music though. Maybe mention the key and talk through the notes.

    Either way cheers!

  • wtf

  • i really wanted to learn this song but i cant follow. i just want a regular tutorial but yours is the only one on youtube

  • I don't understand how people can play by ear but not read sheet music... reading notes is a lot easier imo ._.

  • No way, playing by ear is much easier. Score is over complicated!

  • I think ear is much easier, I think it's important to hear the music before you play it, or while you're playing, to feel it out, to know what's next, to "hear" what's next. Sheet music has it's purpose but I don't care for it, only when I really wanna try a song that I like

  • well reading the music is much easier for me

  • Thanks for this tutorial. There's not enough help for people who don't know how to read score!

I worked out part of this song by myself, but it's that second chord that had me stumped. I can't quite make it out on your video either, darn it!

Can anyone just reply with the notes, and save me straining my eyes?

  • the notes for the second chord are (starting from the bottom) - B , E and A

  • that little line for the "note you miss" the line between those notes mean that you hit the first note, then you hold it until the line comes towards the second note

  • what happens if my keyboard only haf 5 octaves?? i think im missing the 1st n 7th.

anw is wu-ta-da hee-ka-r(l)u. they dont emphasise rrrr sound too much =] and thnx loads, helped me a lot. thou my score is a bit diff from urs(its simpler) =p

  • Thing i dont get is that.. The small line..

Why was the note putted overthere if you aint going to play it.. only jump to next one.

    Makes no sence :/

Ps: Anyone knows good website(s) where i can find meaning most of the symbols meaning in sheet music.. want to learn meaning of everything that is on the sheet^^

    Thanks!

  • small line is put there to give a more lingering feeling. If it wasn't you'd be straight onto the next note and the sensation is lost. It's called a 'Tied Note' and may seem trivial but has its uses.

  • hee kar ooo ooo tah dah

those lines are ties, remember, ties...

  • i liek his accent =T

  • but i can't see really clear if it is closer

  • i have the same piano as yours i just got it and i am teaching myself thank you very much now i could play for the person i am going to say goodbye to

  • that second line is called a tie. Because as you explained how you played it, it ties the two notes together.

  • OMG thank you soo much! i've been looking for this tutorial!! THANK YOU!!!!~!!! ^_^

  • idol will u make also a tutorial on full house theme song ..fate and i think ??? thnx mhhheeeenn

  • Nice effort :) Keep going!

  • love ur brummy accent, great song ^_^

  • thanks so much for teaching it so well! i've been wanting to learn it for so long.

    :)

  • hello...nice...

anyway...can you send me the chords of it??=)

i've looking for the chords of firts love..thank you so much in advance...

hope i can receive the chords...thank so much for uploading it..

  • No problem :)

  • hey soul reminisce, ive played this song before and iv changed that aeb chord (2nd measure) to something else...if you hear the original recording this sheet music has that chord wrong.

  • awesome u have the same keyboard as me

  • best tour on this song yet good man keep up the work

  • please teach me!

  • Ive done a few tutorials on how to read sheet music basic stuff, so you might wanna check that out :)

  • wow this song is really beautiful.

I like your tutorial, it really puts the step by steps on it. Honestly though, a 'littlee' too slow for my speed. but Im getting it down :]

    good job for sure!

  • I thought id just play it really slow so that nobody complains that i went too fast on any of the parts lol but thank you for the comment :)

  • that line u were looking for is a tied note, you add the lenght of the second note to the first.

  • Well im glad to hear that because thats the way i been playing those notes in previous songs that i learnt ..so thank you for letting me know i appreciate it.

  • i think the thing yo uwere pointing at is still a legato also..and when its like that you play the first note and hold it until the second one

  • i started learning how to read music sheets with this song and i also got the sheet from the same website as yours but when i try to play it some parts dont make any sense.. now i can play the intro part with actual speed thanks to your video.. i'm moving on to your part 2 tutorial.. =)

  • Glad to hear it :D

  • I've always known the smaller lines as "ties" since it ties the two notes and essentially makes it one.

  • I was getting so annoyed trying to find out what the smaller lines were called lol.. so i really appreciate you letting me know.. Thank you very much!

  • thx

  • nice man thanks v.much, I'm from brum too ;)

  • Thanks for uploading not many people want to make a tutorial.

  • No probz!
