I don't know... I've played all three and I've got to say Crimson Butterfly was my favorite... The sibling-dynamic was very powerful and I found I was able to empathise with the ghosts a lot better than I did in the first or third games... I'd call Crimson Butterfly the masterpiece of the trio XD

Definitely the scariest horror game by far. Silent Hill is nothing compared to this.

dude, please stfu. if it wasnt for Silent Hill, there'd be no 'Survival Horror' genre and Techmo would be still making the shitty DOAX series. Silent Hill took the risk of making a game with a totally different genre, so play the Silent Hill games first, then criticise, but dont just post shit just coz u played ur first horror game.

actually Alone in the Dark was the first survival horror game. it revolutionised the genre.

I know, but it wasn't even remotely scary to me. I didn't like it much, and they shat on the franchise anyway. I was never really scared by it...ever. Its a pretty bad game, to this date. The graphics on it are ridiculously old to build an atmosphere on. Resident Evil took the action approach to the genre, whereas Silent Hill took the atmosphere building approach to it. Besides, Silent Hill franchise has not yet released a bad game in its series (except the next Silent Hill (5) that looks crap)

I do respect dated graphics but only of games worth playing that deliver gameplay. I still do Ecco the Dolphin, Streets of Rage, Mortal Kombat and other classics. Sega Mega Drive was the best old gen console that really delivered in terms of gameplay, I still often choose it over my PS3 and 360. Fact is i never took Alone in the Dark seriously as it pretty much sucked.Silent Hill own the damn genre while right behind them was Project Zero.Silent Hill is still the first true survival horror game

I've not played much of the silent hill series, I want to but want to play right from the start so will have to recondistion myself for psone graphics:P. Are they not remaking alone in the dark for the 360? heh think the first survival horror game I owned was clock tower 3:P

Cool, do try and get it on PS1 though it isnt necessary. If you can't get used to PS1 graphics, just do SH2 first. It doesnt scare me much, but it had a great atmosphere and a memorable storyline, setting and characters.

be careful about the region that you choose. there are 3 different versions: Zero (Ghost) Japanese version, Fatal Frame (American) and Project Zero (European). Make sure you choose the right one

yes... certain regioned games wont play on the opposite regioned consoles for example the Japanese version wont play on European consoles etc.

Im not sure. US Xboxes may play UK games, but thats if they're multiregional or not. Im not sure. Better stick to UK consoles and games if you live in the UK.

naa I doubt theres a difference. One of the only diferences between them is the front cover on the case is usually different, plus the PAL games have a few extra vertical lines (read about the difference between PAL and NTSC to understand the difference) besides these two points I generally doubt there would be anything different.

man i shitted myself cause it was a ghost that it was making a breathing noise and as the room had four doors i looked the ghost and i went at the other door and IT WASN'T THERE!then suddenly it came outta a wall.i didn't have the special flash for the camera so i run away.i completed the mission and then i sold the game to my cousin who loves thes games....

this isn't what i would consider the scariest bit of the game. but i do get the heeby jeebies playing it every now and then.

it's not a good idea to always stay in the view finder especially inthe kimono room when the kimonos are all over the place. but hey, to each his own.

this game sucks! i spend 1hour on it. Its not even scary at all! plus i am playing it in the middle of the damn night around 1pm. Graphics is ok...the stupid ghost sense gives the ghost away, which doesn't make it scary. When the ghost pop out...they don't even scary you:/

the blood is around when ur playing through the part of the story where u find out how the carpenters..or some of them at least were murdered by the master carpenter as sacrifices..guess after that there isnt a need for it to be there

Most reason people say they never became scared by these games, is basically because either 1) you just dont want to admit it, 2) you probably dont play at good times (night time, no lights, no other music playing, etc.) or 3) you dont try to get really into the game. Personally I dont play the game for the scare factor, I play because I love the stories.

My friend and I were all, "I wonder why she's just standing there . . ." and when I took her picture, she popped up in front of us and we screamed bloody murder. XDD Anyways, yeah . . . I completed Fatal Frame 1 and it unhinged me. I played a little of Fatal Frame II and sold it, I couldn't go further.

Fatal Frame III will just plain give you multiple heart attacks and maybe make you go crazy. >_>
