Memories of summer 1986, through Italy on vacation with my (young) parents, on board our Lancia Thema Turbo ie.

Through Italy on their way to Rome, with this song on the stereo, along with many other songs of that magical time that was the eighties.

george o'dowd's voice aka boy george is right up there with smokey robinson's...boy george has such a gorgeous voice that wraps itself around a melody like a velvet glove. i love almost every culture club song and every boy george solo project. i'm saddened that like george michael, boy george has had his share of demons...still, i love to watch his interviews...he is so painfully honest about himself...it ain't easy being a chubby kid who was into cross-dressing...but he rose to the top...

It's hard to understand that Boy George is such a nasty person when you listen to him singing - the nasal, warm and tender soul voice is still a pure enjoyment to listen to.

It's even harder to understand that someone is able to sing so extraordinary melodical while doing drugs - the whole album "From Luxury To Heartache" (including this track) was (according to several sources) delayed because of Boy George's heroin addiction. Some tracks took days to record.

My Nana, many years ago, loves Boy George and Culture Club. Two weeks B4 she died, the Chart Show (ITV) showed a preview of this song. She said "I loved that tune, I'll buy that". It was released on the day she died! On the day of her funeral, my mum (her daughter) and I rushed out to buy it so that it could be played at her funeral.
