Seems like the criminal justice system is ALWAYS making the same mistakes and never learning from them. I don't think I'm getting out of line here when I criticize them for being so goddamn stupid!
KTVK withdrew from the ABC network in the mid 1990s to become independent, also with the most local news coverage in Phoenix and the rest of Arizona. KTVK can be received in the Yuma area, but for cable subscribers. ABC programs are on KNXV 15, the former CBS affiliate, KNXV is a CBS copyright for L.A. radio and TV-now KCBS with the Roman numeral XV=15...and CBS programs are on KPHO 5. +
@devulboy1 It didn't withdraw from the network, the network withdrew from the station (because of the 1990s network switches - namely, 15 got Fox pulled from under itself).
And with CBS, you're thinking of the old KNXT - now KCBS, though the calls have been recycled since.
@uncleartie Definately like the open, and the whole KTVK image back then. In fact, KTVK is one of the few things, if not the only thing I remember from visiting Phoenix when I was 3 (1990). Don't remember the heat, the mesas, the killer cacti, but I sure remember Channel 3. God, I'm weird.
Cameron Harper worked at WTHR in Indianapolis, then to KTVK, then KTVT, the a station in San Fransisco (don't know which station), and finally to WPTA/WLMT in Memphis
Ok I need help here..anyone know what happened to Cameron Harper who I belive Patty Kirkpatrick replaced...Hedi Folglesong I belive does your life A to Z, Jim Howell had some sort of Sex scandal and of course Chamberlin is now with KPHO. But can someone tell me what happened with Cameron Harper....I also remember the set which was used for a long while and that opening....also used for a long time
That logo with the white 3 over a red circle makes me laugh. It reminds me of the marker for the New York City Transit Authority's #3 7th Avenue Express/Brooklyn Local subway train.
Did they use blurry camerawork back then!??

@2kosher The video quality from the recording was not great since it was recorded from a 1992 VHS tape.

@devulboy1 KNXV was a Fox affiliate, not CBS, that was KSAZ (then KTSP)

My vote for best news open anywhere, ever. Spent a lot of winters in Lake Havasu in the 90s.

Ahh, a news open back from KTVK's heyday as an ABC affiliate, & FYI, the 3 logo here is still used today.
