I think both of them are awesome characters.

Link has range, power, a sex kick (I love his Nair), a great Zair, Dtilt spike, a great projectile game, and when utilized correctly, he's pretty much a 1-man army.

He is lacking in recovery though.

TLink has speed and jumps, decent power, abusable Bair, Dair spike, decent Zair, wall of projectiles and when utilized correctly, is a one-kid rapefest.

He has short reach though.

PlasticSwordz is right; Toon Link is better than Link. Reasons are because he practically has the same moves(with the exception of a smaller hit box [f+B]), has better adjust frames, and he has a higher priority on both ground and in air in contrast to Link.

link isn't better! nintendo made all the characters equal (or almost anyway) what link lacks in speed, he makes up for in strength. the other way around with toon link. it's of course much deeper than that though.

No, characters are truly equal. The only possible way would be to give them the same physic properties (falling speed, weight, etc.) and moves (not just animations but also damage and knockback). In other words, the same character with a different appearance. I haven't played Link but assuming TL and Link are played perfectly, wouldn't the TL win since he has an advantage in speed?

Speed isn't all. Well, it's not Melee, so it has less of an effect. In brawl, you mostly need a good combination of everything (speed, power, agility, unnatural and broken hitboxes COUGH*snake'sutilt*COUGH) There are some exceptions though. Like MK, doesn't have good killing moves, and he still does well in tournaments. And DDD has his highly annoying chaingrab that is cheap in my opinion. And btw, all of Toon Link's A moves are sword moves, I think, while Link has 2 that are not sword related.
