Hate to put it this way, but you'll want an i7 930, 6GB PC12800 7,7,7, at least 850 Watt PSU, Radeon 59xx Series or Nvidia Equiavalent and preferably an Asus Mobo (so that the PC actually runs). Antec 1200 case is recommended. If you want to get real fancy, you'll want to over-clock it all.

Anyway, I have last year's build non-OC'd with the i7 920 and 4890 and can not run this game on "enthusiast" in any playable way.

Anyway, if the game plays, I suppose that's what really matters. I should mention that you'll want to stick to medium settings to avoid low frame rates.

Nothing screws up a head shot like low fps.

If you want it to run better, it always costs money. Just comes down to priorities. Imo, spending $1500 on a high-end system is worth it.

RPGs are often at a distacne, games like final fantasy are anyway, Oblivion is the expetion. Third person games can get away with very bad textures, as your never up close. FPS games have nice texures..... and BIG SHINY GUNS!!!!

You are wrong, an FPS is the closest thing to full immersion you'll ever experience in a video game. Its the way its presented to the player, through a "your eyes" experience, that will make you feel more like you're part of the game.

Anything 3rd person is unrealistic and detracts from the feeling of being there. Once VR goes big you'll understand.

@2346 They are probrably going to brand it a pile of shite because a current gen console couldnt even run this at half the detail. So no doubt Cryengine 3 wont really look any better, just optimising so the consoles can maybe have cryengine 2 at medium settings. I wouldnt expect anything revolutionary on the PC either as if the engines running on a console, it wasnt designed to handle the maximum. My bet is it'll look just like Crysis on Very High, with some smoother fps due to optimisation

I don't think so. 8800gt is more equivalent to the 9600gt I believe. It's the model number that counts more than the series. Just because a car is new doesn't mean the engine is bigger.

Your card will be able to play crysis on some level, probably medium will be fine.
