Check out my channel for real benchmark links in which Windows 7 is proven to run faster, better, and consume less power than LiEnucks on gaming, applications, and Flash 10 video.
Not to mention, my friend tried to install LiEnucks Ubuntu 10.10 but ended up with a non-working WIFI card (LiEnucks does not have hardware or software support from 3rd part). LOL. Epic fail.
Not to mention, check out the video in my channel, to see some REAL reasons.
my computer came out of the factory with Vista, and it sucks. my computer crashes about 2 times a month. I installed ubuntu 9.10 and I love it! Im not coming back to Windows ever again.
Now let me tell you what they removed, and broke ...
1. The sound was working "Linux MultiMedia Studio" now it is not ... and you have to jump hoops to get it to work... and the same sound problems is in the Frozen-Bubble ... all caused by them fixing things... but now Kdenlive, KompoZer work fine...
2. they removed the ability to easily edit the long-in screen, saying it would speed boot time... but the web is now running slower for me...
My Windows 7 RC has ran out and will only run for 2 hours then shut off. I do not want to spend $200.00 on Window 7 Home right now. I see I can download a 32 Bit of Ubuntu but what about the 64 Bit? I am running a AMD Phenom ll 550 Black Edition. When I try searching for a 64 bit download all I get is 32 bit. Any ideas where I get 64? Also is this software compatiable with Nero 7 Ultra, I-tunes ect?
@N46RECONXX Hmm. Because we all need rubber windows physics. Isn't Ubuntu just fantastic with all these effects? Surely its the best operating system ever!
@KETSAP you can install VirtualBox in ubuntu and run XP in the same with Ubuntu.. it's something like virtual pc application in windows 7 that allows you to boot a version of windows xp.
I use Windows but i want to use Ubuntu.I have many programs and games and hardware( graphic card-sound card external) that are made for windows. Can i install them and use them in Ubuntu and how?
@KETSAP you hardware will probly work but the games wont work natively, however you can dual boot so you can use both OS's tbh you may wna use Linux Mint may be easier if u linux n00b
if u want to use ubuntu, u can use a program called WINE to run most windows applications, and u will be able to play most games, but not all. You can dual boot ubuntu with windows and u can have both accessible as soon as u boot up your computer. U can search up this on youtube by typing in: "dual booting ubuntu"
i have a question. When i do the install without any changes can i download any software or change the graphics while im in the test ubuntu, cuz i cant. Is this normal or does it mean that it wont run properly and can i boot back to windows when i install it?
If you go to downloads on the ubuntu website, you can select options and select installer for windows, so you can actually boot ubuntu without deleting windows. Tutorial there.
I personally would say that it as a router can work with whatever the operating system. I personally have no issues I can report with any routers I have used.
I would not understand why a router is not supported. I would research this more. On many occasions I have been told that Ubuntu or Linux is not supported but normally the case is the documents do not exist for the support staff.
A while back i really liked ubuntu, had an older version 6.06 i think. But to get basic functions working like sound/music player & adding programs was exhausting. I had to read forums and key commands for hours. I'm new and know nothing about recreating anything. If i need something i like it simple and straight to the point. But 9.10 is something i would like to try. From what i see it improved a lot
If I install 9.10 what programs should I install to get a complete experience from ubuntu?
9.10 like 9.03 should work with most hardware out of the box, download wubi, and install in windows its easy to do... when you rebot you have a choice win or ubuntu. once loaded for the first time all drivers etc will install
yeah I used to have problems in version 6 as well. Especially video and sound drivers. Now with version 9.10, its pretty much flawless. I use it on an older computer and version 9.10 is actually a lot quicker than 9.04. I don't know what they did in those few months but it works beautifully.
It all depends on what you want out of Ubuntu in order to have a complete experience. For what I do, I think it solves 98% of my problems at work. :)
they have yet to offer decent compatibility for the atheros ar5007 wifi card that is in all the new netbooks. downloading a 3mb file took 45 minutes...........
just opening firefox crashed the whole system for me.
i like ubuntu for a desktop but for netbooks it sucks balls.
in jaunty 9.04 it had the same wifi issue they use ath5k for the wifi driver and i have read that ath5k is somewhat still experimental and dosent yet support "turbo mode" what ever that is?
i have black listed the ath5k driver and tried to use madwifi but madwifi does not support ar5007 what so ever at all..........
that should be top priority for any devs reading this. forget about icons backgrounds and boot screens FIX THE DAMN WIRELESS !!!!!!!!!!
Ubuntu is a nice system, everything is great, but (i don't want to offend you) your presenting style is low. You'r explaining lots of things but not entering applications. You should explain + enter it, not just explaining.
What would you like explained I can go into great depth of many open source software applications many and many commercial applications unfortunately this was just an overview of improvements for Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala.
I can create written as well video tutorials on most and post some on here, some on websites.
How can I enablemy sound devic e in Ubuntu. I think it's great, it's looks great...I just can't hear anything :/ I have a MacBook Pro 13 if that helps.
Any help would be so appreciated, you have no idea!
you're installing linux on a MacBook?!! are you crazy??
OS X is another Unix based system, but with mainstream support. It's like crossing the best parts of Windows and Linux! Linux is GREAT as a WINDOWS alternative, but if you want my advice, stick with OS X on your mac.
it's still there, you can still use it. if you don't have it installed you can easily pull it from the repos. i upgraded and it stayed on mine along with the other one (which seems more like Pidgin lite if you ask me :\)
Been using Windows all my life and just installed ubuntu the other day. I see no need to go back to Windows. It's better! Unless your playing Windows specific video games, apps, linux is perfect for you. I absolutely needed to use a windows app so I installed wine and it works perfect. One drawback (or a plus??) is that ubuntu is really fun to use. It takes up lots of my time.
i hear ya, since i got my macbook pro. i hardly use my desktop pc for windows, even with 7 on it. when i dual booted with ubuntu, steam games were my only reason to use the windows partition. Now i have just one reason left before I drop windows indefinitely.
Open Places=>Home then in Nautilus right click on a folder that you want to share like Public and click on Properties. Click on Share tab and select Share this folder, at some point a window should pop-up and ask you to install the necessary services. I checked Allow others and Guest access also.
congested... When you install ubuntu it has a partition guide and you can set it on whichever partition you want.. Also if you do not you can easily partition your drive using your windows disk
With windows 7 i bought Vista twice...yess -.- made me pay for the windows os twice and i need to buy a new licenece if i modify my hardware soflack it, i'm better off using hackintosh or Ubuntu tvm.

Ubuntu has so many things that can be changed if you don't like an icon you can remove it or recreate it.
A look can be achieved by many methods one may be to use a dock or change panel appearance.
The bubble effect is a great thing because it allows me to multi-task easily.

you can add the libraries but the exe in general is not available in linux.
