Hey there, I have the External Zip 100. I was wondering can you show me how to hook it up. I was wondering what the 2 parallel ports and switches on the back are. My husband bought it for me, so I can back up my computer and well I don't know how to hook it up. I don't have a manual.
@misssweetdesilou You will have to buy a parrallel to usb adapter if the computer is a newish one, but if you computer has a parrallel port on the back all you need is to hook it up to the computer, the 2 ports on the back are for the connection to the computer and to your printer.
did you fix that, I was recently sold a mpc 2000 1 250 mb Iomega usb zip drive and a 100 mb scsi its makeing the same sound sorta, Any clue how to fix it ?

Try Changing the disk. if that doesnt work the read/write heads are damaged. the heads are damaged in this video.

This is only for zip 100 drives only
Cleaning the head is easy just follow these steps:
1. Open your zip 100 drive.
2. Locate the head then clean it with a small cotton bud dipped in alcohol
3. wait for 20 minutes then close your zip drive.
4. plug you zip then you can now read some zips!
i done that to my zip 100 and it works but with damages because someone stepped on my bag but it still works!

In the drive in the video the bottom head is missing.

The head is located on where the zip disk opening goes and you might see a white pad and
on top of that is the head then clean it.

you dont get it! the head is really missing, it was rattling around the bottom of the unit. i knew about all this cleaning stuff.

it would be better if iomega redesigned the head
system to have a auto head cleaning swab that
will rub the head and clean it when the head
parked and also they have to make the head stem
out of titanium or other strong and light material.
