@Y402 Looking forward to your video on this subject, then :) This test was requested as performed and I think it's a great piece of information for people. - Kat
@Krugie10 We have started doing a test comparing the freshness of beans kept in an Airscape compared to beans kept in their bag. It will be awhile before it's up, but it's in the works :) - Kat
it's really strange that although you didn't change the grinder setting the coffee came out at the same speed. In my experience, old coffee runs so much faster. But I always make singles, that may be the cause, who knows
@Jabbawack I think it's because they were all sealed in the package and were air tight, so they weren't necessarily drying out because of oxygen exposure, etc. We were surprised by that, too, as we had planned to do a second pass and dial in the grinds on them to show how much more finely you'd need to grind as it ages, but since they were similar extraction lengths, there was no need. - Kat
Great video guys. I've been told that freezing the grinds keep them fresh and can be used straight from the freezer. Any idea? And a big hello from the UK.
@andrewreversethrustw Thanks! I think that if the coffee is open and you're using a freezer that is frost-free, the coffee will get freezer burned and it will introduce moisture into it. I would recommend keeping it in a cool, dark place (pantry?) in air tight container, taking out as much as you'll use within a few days. - Kat
@karlneilinn11 I am coy! Well, you might see me if you have the chance to come to the store (and I'm in there)...and maybe on our 1000th video ;) - Kat
@SeattleCoffeeGear I Would have come a long time ago (im a diehard Illy fan) but unfortunately i live in Estonia, anyways i'll wait the 1000th video then. Great to get a reply.
@karlneilinn11 Oh wow! I keep hoping to talk Gail into an international tour, maybe Estonia should be on our list! :D Thanks so much for watching -- Kat

I think double zz in Italian is pronounced with the "tz" sound aka "Lavatza"...something I learned from a European.

Very good video, But A 3 month gaps is a very long time.
Think a better way is to do it in weeks: E.g Fresh roast, 1 week, 2 week and 3 week. gaps.
Is this way , it is more clear as to how long beans stay fresh after roasted.

Hi Kat,
It would be interesting to make a test with Vacuvin storage container (or other containers).
Does it really make a difference compared to keeping the coffee in a dark place ?
