i've run both rosserhead and ring debarkers. rings are good in a pulp mill but with the logs we get nowadays rosserheads are the way to go, get some knots or burls the sawyers miss in the woods and you can grind em off and somke out the mill in the process! always fun! good job on the vid!
i have ran one like this for 5 years....i would fill 2 box trailer on a semi a day of bark....around 500 to 1000 logs....i debarked for 2 mills....and i kept up just fine....was it cold when u made this video...becuase the flippers that flip it off when u r done stuck...mine did that when it was cold...and in the begining u had to logs on the rollers...should have just started u rollers in normal rotation and let the other log just get sucked back out of the way then when done just roll it off
I guess high production rates is not a big deal. drum debarkers or valon cone ring debarkers are much faster and efficient. This piece of junk looks like a high maintenenace item.
I appreciate all comments, but Bru3456 hit it on the head.pulppeeler and pitbullowner also got it right. The machine worked good enough, but it was old and weak.
Looks like an older rozer head unit. You should get the boss to spring for a ring debarker. Those babies are awsome, and they chew up a lot less of your wood.
Wow,you don't say.Cool,I have only ever seen this type.I'd like to see a ring debarker in action,or see what one looks like even. This one can chew up on softer wood quick if you're not careful.Thx for the info 5flyingpigs.
We used to have a rozer head, but we had all kinds of grief with it. We get a lot of wood with mud and all kinds of shit stuck in the bark that dulled the cutters. we were constantly swaping cutters. We changed it out for a Nicholson A6 It's the best machine in the mill. Way faster than the rozer too. The knifes on a ring debarker plow the bark off right at the sap layer so they don't have to be sharp. I'll film our baby and post it somtime.
Sorry about the camera work,The debarker is a two handed operation and I have just a crappy little camera. Thanks for the comment,I'll try to get a buddy to do the camera next time, maybe some sound would help it too hehe.
oh man its crazy, absolute pandemonium

Found it madding to deal with the camera work. Camera man must have been getting debarked as well
