Its nice your garden is doing so well. I used to live in Palmdale myself. And I know how extreme the weather can be. The wind can dry out your plants fast. Great idea.
so, when you harvest, do you use the same soil to grow your next batch? do you keep growing some plants without pulling the whole thing out? how about herbs? I can never grow an herb because it always dies! I can never know when to water! should herbs follow your same watering system? how often do you fill with water?
I will keep most of the same soil but I mix fresh compost into what is left. If I am planting a heavy feeder, like tomatoes, I add an organic fertilizer. I like to water every couple of weeks with some worm tea. There are many plants that I dont harvest the whole plant. Spinach is a good example, I just harvest what leaves I need. ~Jeri
Depending on the herb (cilantro for example) some are better in traditional containers because the little bit of stress on the plant when they dry out a bit makes the flavors more intense.
I live in the Mojave dessert so in the summer with large plants (tomatoes or cucumbers) Ill water every day or two and can sometimes go three days. Less demanding plants and in cooler weather I dont watered as often. ~Jeri
I'm glad to see your videos and I'm inspired and already started my own balcony garden...thanks for sharing it with us...

It's amazing how much food can be raised so cheaply and easily in a such a small space.
Thanks for sharing your garden and knowledge. You're a great Youtube Citizen.

When you say you water every day or two, Does that mean you have to fill the water reservoir in the bottom of your planter every 2 to 3 days?
