the duke is pretty peppy for being as big and heavy as it is. my TPS was bad so it bogged down when i stepped on the gas though. my bro and i just took our 2.5 out and we hope to be swapping in the 3.4 DOHC and a getrag 5 speed. it will be a lot of fun when its finished.

My car is a 2.0 4cyl and it only gets 25 mpg. (32 the way i drive)

I am not sure what you drive (maybe a neon)? The fiero is under 3000lbs and weighs less then most cars. Also it being a 5 speed the fuel economy is lower then a auto. Aerodynamics keep it efficient. The fireo was not originally made to be a sports car. It was to save gas, it just turned out really cool and sporty.

Very nice car, but it will hold up much longer with an engine swap, and can be worth a lot more, and not just look good.
