That's what I'm thinking. The screen resolution looks far to high. Possibly an external monitor was in use.

How is that really an Acer aspire one? Your task manager is showing dual cores and the n270 intel atom processor is only a single core with hyperthreading? Just curious because you never really show the netbook in the video. Logically your task manager would only show one core.

it's like that with the atom, i watched several videos of netbooks and all them show dual cores... strange..might be logical cores.

no the atom is a dual core! but still it dose not look like the one....... it could be the 10"

The task manager is showing dual cores because the HT module of processor intel is seen as a separated processor. Is the same for the P4 HT processor.

I got an acer aspire one (win xp version) 160Gb hardisk 1gb ram and it's a wonderful piece of machine! I give it 4/5 only cos of the 2hr 23 mins battery... dunno if I can get a better one for it, then I would surely give it a 5/5!

you can get a 9 cell battery for this off ebay for around 50 dollars now. ive heard that the 9 cell will last 8 hours but it looks kind of chunky

in Australia you can buy it with Linux or Windows Xp Home Edition - Their is around a $20 difference in price - and sells around about $480 aus dollars for windows xh home edition.

In Mexico acer sell the Acer One wih Linux Limpus Lite Version.

And is really fast.

No virus, no things like in windows.

I found the bundled Linpus Linux to be absolute junk, far too buggy and many dependency problems.

Tried Windows XP on my Acer One for a while, it was reasonable but not great.

For the last six months it's been running Ubuntu Netbook Remix Linux. Installation is very easy, performance is great, battery life is good, everything works, it's very reliable, and NO VIRUSES.

You can buy it pre-loaded with xp but is slightly more expensive and has longer loading times.

If you upgrade to 2gb, it wont cost you more than like .... 50 USD or whatever you use of currency, but surely will boost that performance.

We have those laptops in Europe, yes.

But if you buy it elswhere, make sure that the powersupply supports 220 volts. it will say on it. Like from 160-240 volts or something. Then it's good enough, and will support 220v ;)

Must have been a windowblinds skin he applied. Or so I think. ;) That's atleast a possibility.

The theme is called "Royale Noir" do a google search. Its not a windows blinds theme, its a modified version of the "royale" theme from the windows media center edition of xp.

The XP you see in the video was installed by us. Remember that you can download OpenOffice and install it yourself wherever you want.

I'm wondering how fast the Aspire One that ships with Windows XP boots? I'd really like the extra HD space so that I can use it as a kind of MP3 player/note-taking machine, and was looking at the $400 6-cell. [I've been looking for a video through the internet and can't find one.]

Pyroshen: We've read and experienced some issues with the SSD and Windows XP, that have been solved by formatting the disk in Fat 32. Actually this issues are happening because XP doesn't have a good management of SSD Storages. In that case, if you want to run XP you should (if yyou can) get a hard drive one (A150).

I've found a 150 (120HDD, XP) version that's teh same price as the 110 (8SSD, linux) version.

Would it be better to get this? I've heard that the xp is a bit sluggish, but that might have been fixed with the extra RAM (1gig)
