I remember learning about her back when I was a kid in school, and even then feeling mortified at how cavalierly they were talking about her and displaying her form and image. For example, since I could walk I've always done "African dances" (I'm half Somali half AA), which included hip rolls and percolating, long before I even saw a music video or even had hips lol. One must question anyone who would want to be that familiar with someone else. There are more black women who have respect for their bodies than the ones who are showing up in videos scantily clad. Exalt those women. Make a video about those women. Celebrate the women who are leading Fortune 500 companies, sisters who own their own production companies, sisters who are doctors, professors, lawyers. What about them? All I hear and see are videos putting down black women for this or that. We are not on a large scale selling our bodies. That's a small percentage. Very small.

Even after Women were givent the right to vote, we were not given the right to leave our abusive husbands. Life has not been fair to any ethnic group.
