Actually, the music to this soundtrack was finished by Bernard Herrman; most of it was originally composed by Alex North. The entire soundtrack is memorable, no matter who composed which parts, and the movie has long been one of my favorites.

It's a delight to see The Egyptian again. Maybe it's not 100% historical but it's a really great movie. Would be good to see the scene the "Martydom of Merit" in the temple destruction scene with Jean Simmons.

Martin Luther King's famous "I Have a Dream" speech, is touted as among the greatest speeches of all time. Yes, it may well be - but it appears "paraphrased" almost verbatim from the Egyptian." Edmund Purdum's beautiful soul stirring speech for the ages is delivered in the closing scenes of the movie, with such Shakespearian eloquence, that it's no wonder the eclectic MLK appropriated it as his own.
