  • I love it !

I have A Gibson Johnny A. identical to yours !

    Johnny's a great player and a great guy !

Met with him at several of his shows, and chatted with him...

I brought my J.A. Gibson to a show and he signed the Cert. Of Auth. for me, an d I have a pic of him playing my guitar !

Great guitar, too wonderful range of sounds !

    All the BEST,

    Dan.

  • Love your stuff ,do more

  • Excellent my friend!

  • beautiful!!!

  • That was awesome!!! Very nice touches just like Johnny would play! You did his cover justice! Great sound too! Thanks for posting.

  • That was spot on mate!!! Awesome. I've seen Johnny do that many times,

Leftystrat62 - He really is a cool guy, must of caught him on an off night

  • wish i had seen your version before i did mine. would've stole some of you guitar playing. thanks for sharing man. nice job and well done. added this to my favs.

  • How did you find this arrangement, did you just work it out ?

  • Gibson 335?

  • I'm not a Glen Campbell fan but i love this song and you have more than done it justice, that was mesmerising!!

  • Man I hear a little Chet and Les in you there.

  • Way good man!

  • OK 70soloman, I finally have one up on here with my Johnny A model Gibson. Thanks for inspiring so many to go"mental" as the guy before me stated, lol

Cheers and thanks agin for the advice on the guitar, Love it.

  • Great cover! Where did you find the tabs? And do you know where to find tabs for "Get Inside"? Great playing :)

Hope to get an answer, I love Johnny's music so much!

  • Fantastic! I love Johnny A's playing, and you have nailed it.

How do you like the Johnny A guitar? I've thought about getting one some day if I can scrape up enough $.

  • 70soloman

    Great effort.

  • wow that was really awesome!!!...

  • very good, great song

  • sweet!

  • Fantastic.Wha kind of guitar are you playing, and through what kind of amp?

  • Superb redition of a classic song! Thank you !

  • I've loved this song since I was a kid and have played it traditionally for years. Saw this arrangement and was blown away. Now I've been sitting in front of the stooopid computer every night practicing like a mad man to get this arrangement down - my wife thinks I've gone mental. HaHa. Thanks for posting this soloman!!!

  • round 2: LOL He also gets pissed when people are talking in the crowd when he's playing...it can almost be funny but it gets a little tense sometimes. He calls people out right from the stage!! I took a date one time and had to constantly tell her to shut up because I was afraid he was going to start ripping our table from the stage. Thta's what I mean about frustrated....I think he gets aggravated when people don't get where he's coming from with his music...I get it...my date didn't..it's art

  • That goes right into my fav box. Very good..

  • Fabulous job! You have a wonderful touch and beautiful tone!

You are inspiring me to pull out my Johnny A sheet music and take another shot at it!

  • I just saw Johnny A live locally- he plays well, but boy what a snob, wouldn't go see him again.

  • He sometimes comes off that way but he was really an ok guy when I met him.

  • His approach really varies. Once I saw him and he acted like a dick, but the next time he was really warm and friendly and I ended up sticking around we talked for about twenty minutes.

  • Yes, I' ve met him a couple of times and he's not exactly the friendliest guy in the world...but I think he's probably a little frustrated ... and sick of a lot of stupid questions...I always approach him with kid gloves and he's always cool to me... really can't blame him ...there's a lot of people who should take class A, B, and C before they start asking remedial questions and he's probably just worn out with it.

  • @70soloman Met him at one of his live shows. Nice guy. He even bought me, a fan, a beer. Snob? NO WAY!

  • Nice job. Where did you learn to play his song? I've seen a tab book of his out there-wondered if that was what you used.

  • Johnny A. has tab books for both of his CD's. This is a darn good job of playing his music.

  • I'm still shopping for guitars. I like the more full sound of yours. What kind is it?

Wichita lineman is a favorite of mine. You really did the song justice.

  • It's a Johnny A. Signature guitar from Gibson. I happen to own this very guitar but can't play this song nearly as good. 70soloman does a very good job of it. I've seen Johnny A. play several times and he's a master. When he plays this song, he's so dang smooth it isn't funny. Look him up here on youtube.

  • hey very nice sound...on which amp do you put the guitar?

  • Fender Deluxe Reverb

  • what kind of settings are you using? Sounds like a lot of treble and a LOT of reverb (which is always a good thing in my book!)

  • If any of you have not seen Johnny A live, I highly recommend it! Gibson hasnt endorsed a lot of players over the years. When you watch Johnny play, you will understand the level of playing it takes to be one of the few selected for such an exclusive group of players. He is one of the most technically proficient and dynamic players of our time - a player's player. Go see him play!!!

  • Smokin' cool.

  • phew!! made me sweat. listened to it over and over! thanks

  • I have my Johnny A. Ax now, Ur rite great guitar , Saw the man two months ago in NY. Going to see him him Maryland the end of Sept.

PS . were the hell can U get parfin wax??

  • There is a product on the market called "Nut Sauce" works great! Thanks for the comment!

  • Beautiful guitar and playin...Superb :-)

  • your version is better than Johnny A's, I think Johnny was pissed when he did his IMHO.

  • man i love that guitar....

  • Dude, that was an incredible job! Very much like 'ole Johnny A himself.

  • Man....what a beautiful guitar....nice tone and playing also.

  • You nailed the tone, inflection, nuance, everything !! Sorry to ask so many questions, you blew me away with this and have taught the teacher grasshopper, Kudos . I play 12 Eb strat 90% of the time now. Is that a short scale on the Gibson?? It must compensate tension??

  • Thanks. No. it's a full scale neck like an L5. I guess thats what I love about it...nice wide ebony fingerboard, and the ease of play above the 12th fret - unlike a LP

  • Did you have the nut filed out by a Tech?? Thanks for the advice. Those are almost close to the SRV guages, roller bridge?? I lost explain?? is it allparts?

  • I filed the nut just enough to relieve the string binding. SRV used 12's I believe but yes I went to that gage to get a fatter sound on my Fender's and on the Gibson...PHAT! The Roller bridge is allparts similar to the roller saddles on a Kahler.

  • I found one on ebay- Im thinking about getting, what gauge string do are you using?? Also pro and cons?? You love this ax??

  • I got it because I was looking for a hollow body with a vibrato. I looked at Gretch but the sound of a lam top pales. Great tone! This guitar sounds best clean or with a slight bit of overdrive. The one drawback is the vibrato. I had a real problem keeping it in tune but discovered a little paraffin wax applied to the string guides in the nut helps. I also replaced the stock adjustable bridge with a roller bridge. I use a custom guage on all my guitars (11,14,18,32,42,52)

  • The timing at the 1:06 mark to the Bb is giving me a little trouble, other than that U have helped me so much bro

  • Hey where did you find the deal on the Ax? everyone I have seen is 4k or better

  • I got it through Sweetwater after they just came out with it.

  • You more than did it justice, you nailed every nook and cranny, amazing. I have been studying your hands for days and there is one thing I cant make out, at 3:04 mark, Its a Cmaj something, help me if you could, other than that you have basiclly taught me the song. I missed Johnny here in VA when he opened for Eric Johnson, Im kickin myself now.

  • It's a C Maj9 with the third on the top (let the high open E ring in the chord).

  • This has got to be the best arrangment of chord melody Ive heard in my life for this song, thanks for helping me learn this from the video

    BD

  • Thanks!

It's a great arrangement. I hope I did it justice. See the real thing by the ole boy himself.

  • Very sweet! I love that guitar. Nice job.

  • cue the blue sky...

    ~mind blowing~

    good cover..

  • Great idea.

  • smooth daddy.....smooth. Someone bring me a martini....

  • I want a Johnny A model guitar. How do you like it? Worth the price?

  • It's the best value of any Gibson model...in my opinion, their best kept secret. It plays better than a Les Paul. It has the Appointments of an L-5 without feedback! I got a smokin deal on mine...under 3K. Worth every penny!!!

  • Great Cover, you are a real talent! Thanks!

  • Excellent job covering Johnny A's version of one of the best love songs ever written. Your timing was very good.

  • Great job!

  • Really nice, you nailed it!

  • You are awesome, and you look just like my first boyfriend.
