Cant say that I enjoyed this as much as you did. I guess it just had too many plotholes for me to enjoy and things got way too far fetched for me to just suspend disbelief. But hey, opinions vary. I thought that Harry Brown was a very good vigilante film involving gangs. Bit similar to this.
I guess I'm not the only one not to even remember this one. Kevin Bacon is strange, since he can be so good in some films and just kind of walks through the role in others. I generally like him, but don't know that I'd run to catch a Bacon film on opening night.
@marco12501 hey thanks for the recommendations. I heard about Russian Ark but never got to check it out. The protector is Thai Warrior with Tony Jaa right? Is that the scene where he fights up a series of stairs?my god that was so beautiful. My reaction when I first saw that was me at the edge of my seat with my jaw dropped.
@marco12501 Hard Boiled has an amazing action sequence with guys being shot and things being blown apart in an elevator, down some hallways, back in an elevator and shot ends.
Good review, also if you like films with scenes that are only one long take, you should watch Children of Men, staring Clive Owen, I thought it was a great film that really didn't get the attention it deserved.
@ChaosBr34k3r Children of Men is one of my favorite movies they had some beautifully done shots, Also there is one in Atonement where they walked around a beach filled with a few thousand people in one long scene, that was done really well. You're right Children of Men didn't get the attention it deserved at ALL.
great reivew as always fury,i dont like the movie as much as you did,but it wasnt bad
If you wanna see a trully realistic revenge movie this year, you have to see harry brown, with michael cane as the vigilante, dont get fool by the trailer, its a pretty harsh movie, its not over the top,its not exagerated,it is just pretty real
I love 1 take scenes if they're done right, it a) brings up suspense b) is more realistic and c) has you focus on the character in the shot and what he's thinking throughout that take. I can't wait to see this movie!
Great review. I remember renting this film a while back and being generally happy with it. I agree that Bacon's character needed a little more hesitation before fully committing to his actions, but it didn't totally take away from me enjoying the film. Not sure it's worth owning, but it's definitely worth seeing at least once.
yeah i noticed by your old flashy thingy you used to have. anyway i thought this movie was nice and james won should really stop with the saw films and start making more movies like this one..
Watch Old Boy...now thats some messed up movie..=)

Hey Fury
I have seen this movie and I agree with your review
That one-shot scene was marvelous
If you like that sequence you should check:
- Children of Men (This movie have many one-shot sequences, truly brilliant)
- The Protector (This movie has one spectacular fight scene that is a one-shot sequence, or Youtube-it)
- Russian Ark (This movie is like 90 MIN LONG and it's filmed in ONE SINGLE SHOT, that worth a view, too bad I haven't seen yet, but soon)
See ya

You should see Alfred Hitchcock's Rope. It's amazing. And is mostly one-shot all the way through.

I personally love this movie. But I have a soft spot for a vigilante film.....That And John Goodman made me laugh.
