I'm not sure of the legalities but it would be so cool if we could do this with people. Just imagine a loved one, forever sleeping in a special casket and since they aren't an environmental hazard (traditionally embalmed corpses are) you could keep them in your home. A lot of people keep urns with loved one's ashes inside. This wouldn't be much different.

My mom, in particular, was full of life and loved to do old-style dances to the music playing nonstop at home, so do you really think I want to see her propped up in a chair like a zombie collecting dust?
Cats always look awful when freeze dried or whatever, but the dogs always look real. Can never really understand it, but then again I won't be 'keeping my pets around forever'. We give ours a proper little funeral and bury them.
