I definetely prefer shabalin and domnina. much stronger, more passionate dancers...maxim brings just the kind of emotion tango requires, and oksana is with him all the way. with belbin and agosta I always feel like something is missing in their performances.
They´re both good, but Dom/Shab managed to skate very clean and with character at the same time. The Americans seem to be struggling with their holds and don´t keep the mood.
D/S's tango truly rocks! Their tango is far superior, Max's hold is firm, his arm high, they're crisp, clean show classic tango expression. A well executed tango is about sexual tension between a man and woman. B/A was nice, decent leg extension and patterns but absolutely NO tension.
i give it to belbin agosto, b/c they are mature and polished and more importantly they really held the lines, and positions for the full value. it felt more mature and was just cleaner to me.
Belbin and Agosto... better flow and the edges and patterns are cleaner. Posture and carriage is well presented and cleaner lines. I wonder how they actually placed...
im sorry but did you really even look at d and s??? their flow was far far superior to that of belbin and agosto!! their extensions were good for both teams, but if you were to ask which team really captured the essence of a tango, it would surely be d and s. everything was firm and strong throughout.
i completely disagree. Belbin's posture is far superior. Both have great edges but the armhold is where the American's did better. Belbin and Agosto also had slightly better patterns compared to the Russians. The US executed a closer feel to tango than the Russians did and that's just my opinion.
put me down for Belban/Agosto.....better posture, flow....and it has an innovative look...they're doing something different that others have not done....i'm not sure what it is just yet....but i like the looks of it!!
I give to DomShab by a mile. There was more leg extension, knee bend and it was generally much smoother. B&A were just not down into the ice at all and it was kind of brittle. This particular tango really needs to be smooth and slinky which B&A were not.
Video on right looks slightly stretched vertically. Notice ads around the boards. Both B/A are slender, but not that thin!
D/S have lovely leg extension. Too bad their FD is such a MESS! Required step sequences in FD and OD are weak & lack difficulty of top teams Bel/Ago Fai/Sca V/M and rising No. 2 French P/B. Eagerly await Del/Scho! :)
how does the russian tango look anything like a waltz??? thats pure tango expression and skating quality that they're showing....if you look at the opening progressives from b and a, you can see agosto is bobbing up and down, when in tango, steps should be even and very firm.almost like giving a mean attitude.
Domnina/Shabalin are much more better!!!

Dom and Shab had better edging and better extention. I liked Belbin and Agosto's posture/carriage more though. I'd give it to Dom and Shab overall.

In character, the Russian team seems to approach the dance like a Viennese waltz. The Americans bring more of a tango flavor to the dance.

you've got everything the other way around....american teams score higher in waltzes and russians score higher in tango's. proven fact.
