This is the best recording i've heard of this aria. I think it's a lot to do with carusos performance, but also the simplistic arrangament with just the beautiful piano.

The music is wonderful and makes any love scene that much more enchanting, I believe that you are correct that without this music, the move would have taken on a very different quality. When I hear Enrico sing I feel as if I rise above myself, yet in myself, as the body emotes. I respond mentally and the body physically and the two join together undergoing deep felt emotions and become one spiritually.

Caruso recorded this in 1904. I find it very interesting that people (even young people) are emotionally affected by a recording that is more than 100 years old! Caruso's empathy transcending time....
