  • What do people dislike about this? losers

  • People need to learn to dance from some of these guys. Cuz this is alot better then the crap dancing they have out now.

  • have everybody noticed how slim all those people were??? you don't see that kind of slim in people anymore.

  • che spettacolo!

  • wow... love it!

  • paws up on releasing that remix. #smoovgroov

  • marc anthony on the rebound @ :04, young lime-green oprah @ :27, willona woods @ 1:24. and atlanta real housewife cynthia bailey workin' it & bein' seen @ 1:43.

and i'm on my 8th view. d@mn i love this video. love that mix. loved Soul Train back in the day... love legend Ja'net Dubois to this day. the good Doctor needs to show some love w/one of these that lasts at least double that time.... and of course, release that remix, too. we want the funk, gotta have that funk.

  • THE PLAYA dude at 0.43 is hilarious.....and he's such a chameleon too...I've seen him on a bunch of other Soul Train uploads and its so hard to believe its the same guy....I bet he kept them all guessing and equally amused every week.

  • image these wer your

parents and you jus seen them omg....show me these moves please..

  • you can bitch about the 70s as much as you want, and you may even be right. Yes yes we know the 1970s were kitsch trashy pushy a finger in your eye... The 1970s were embarassing and couldn't be tackier than that. But I JUST LOVE THE 1970s.

You wanna know why? Because people were happy, they were free and they were real.

Today even vulgarity is fake. Long live those improbable colors and abominable clothes. I wish I could wear pants from outer space today without people staring. Disco Revenge!

  • @imscaredofcoffee I Love the 70's...Can you dig it...I knew that you could...Right On!!

  • OMG! Like no effort, the soul and funk pour from EVERY pore of the people in the video. AWESOME. Nowadays dancing is not about feeling, but how many moves you can do per second.

  • feel the funk

  • Wouldn't get sick of watching that if it were ten minutes long.

  • Love the pimp @ 0:44

  • damn they got moves.....

  • @jacobleb420 in 0:43 is Tyrone Proctor

  • can i marry dude at 1:44

  • It was so much funkier when I was young. Everybody was kung fu fighting (dancing).

  • ow my eye

  • Fun Time!

  • check out the guy at 0:43 lmao but to cool

  • Love that mix of the song. Request!

  • the pimp with the shiny grey suit killed it!!! HEY MAMA! ooh! papa was a rolling stone

  • At 0:45 is the single coolest man ever. period. no doubt.

  • @blahbl4hblahtoo

    He's clearly a pimp! lol

  • Daaamn, i wish i was there °°°wow.!!!°°°

  • `:D LOL trash the stacks @0:59....EPIC video

  • This was real music! Today? Yawn, so boring...

  • I so fucking love their clothes. FLY! Now it's bunch of losers and hookers

  • This was when black people danced with funk and soul. Nowadays....meh.

  • 0.43 the best!

  • thats P I M P

  • The dude 0:43 was toooooo cooool for this soul train line.....that's one grooving/suave S.O.B.

  • Yeah, THE PLAYA at 0.43 and that lady at 2.01 just jump right out as the definition of: I own this mother. The whole thing is a blast of groovy-cool tho. But its the BASS on this track...it's sooo good. He keeps ya hangin' for them notes like a junkie waitin' on a fix. Hahaha

  • a hipsters dream0,0

  • :44 seconds is the defition of a cool mo'fo.

  • I loved soul train

  • Good clip. Mr. Cornelius sure had the right idea. He woke many of us up in life.

  • Nice!

  • LMFAOOO @

    The PLAYA at 0:43

The dude in the red at 0:58

And OH GOD I just died at 1:31 OH MY GOD...LMFAOO...Was there even a beat there???! LMFAO

  • This is such a kick as version of Papa was a Rolling Stone!!

  • WAIIIT A MINUTE ! IN MY BILL COSBY VOICE LOL THIS SAME VIDEO DIFFERENT SONG...NEXT !

  • Soul Truly was the hippest trip in America. I would throw myself on the floor if I try to dance with platform shoes on but the Soul Train dancers made it look like a walk through the park.

  • WHO GOT THAT MIX.....

  • The claps was what make the beat.

  • si voi a un antro y veo a alguen aciendo el paso del cigarrilloo (min. :43) no mames me chorreo

  • now this is the def of the funky grove

  • ROFL at :44. Pimp-tastic!!

  • Ma Papa was a Rolling stone.

  • i wonder if these dances had names, or was it more freestyle grooving...? somebody oldschool let me know

  • I just went, "WOOOO" 5 times.

  • It's so great to see young people that took care of their bodies , dressed neatly, and NOT over weight... Fantastic!!!

  • it's such a nice feeling to see my black brotha and sistas together

  • 02:52,the music stopped there!!!We can´t hear the studio music on the video, but it seems the music stopped there, look at the girl´s expression on the line and they stopping

  • The guy at 0:43

My god,THAT´S sytle...he is so awesome

  • Good!

  • back when blacks were, well, black. we've really lost our way.

  • The girl at 1:43 blows my mind. It's the 70's, but her outfit and dance is 1987. I bet she's in the background in Electric Boogaloo or Beat street or something. She's at least 12 years ahead of schedule!!!

  • please tell me that remix is available somewhere for download....please...that was so damn good...

  • @cabronfeo hey, the Dr tries to promote the copyright holders of original music so currently provides no releases or downloads - BUT, if enough people keeping asking, maybe one day we'll start trying to clear the rights for a digital release! Peace

  • @Funkenpumpen I'd love to download that mix as well.

  • @Funkenpumpen me and all my friends are asking, Pretty please?

  • @Funkenpumpen Consider this another request :)

  • @unify2bfree --> at 10k requests we'll start calling the record companies :)

in the meantime...peace, justice, and galactic funk to you all...

  • @Funkenpumpen please got damn it nice mix

  • @Funkenpumpen --> 10k requests? 600'000+ views isn't enough for a digital release? You could propably upload it to an offshore host which hasn't any copyright law like hong-kong or russia. ;)

  • @DeeJaySoulStep ...looking into a non commercial release and keeping people informed on the feed...

  • @Funkenpumpen me three.

  • @Funkenpumpen Here's another request. Just make it, OK. Now.

  • @Funkenpumpen Another request, make it happen please!

  • @cabronfeo I just downloaded it from Amazon.

  • @cabronfeo

me too - consider this another request.

  • @cabronfeo USE youtube downloader for tracks u cant buy m8

  • BE BLACK AGAIN,FUCKERS...all rap music on mtv nowadays are there to tell you "yeah, aha, look what the white man gave to me,gold, cars, whores"

ok,be YOURSELF AGAIN,stupid fucking era we are living, holy fuck, and was like THIS 30 years ago...all of us,white, black, yellow, blue, purple, light green, dark green with pink little straps were pure EXPRESSION,GENIALITY AND QUALITY

  • we were all healthier then and the music tuned your body up to groove and move with ease. Now it's all harsh and angry..no wonder most of the youth are assholes nowaday's.

  • There is a Soul Train marathon on Centric right now!

  • Nice remix of The Temptations set to the Soul Train line. Don rest now. No more pain.

  • can see some origins of hip hop in their moves.

  • Easier to dance back then-cause that was music to dance to.

  • @3:16 Andre 3000 this is the best here, we will miss you Slim, there are some good memories here.

  • @:45, Snoop Dooogg

  • Look at the great shape our parents and Grandparents were in back in the Day. They were so healthy and Loose.

  • I liked It, Don RIP....but I have to say this..This is a show that plays music right? Why did you have to put your music..why not play the original music that was playing? That would be a tribute along with Don giving his famous sign off quote..

  • @steelwall...check the date the video was uploaded....2009.......

  • showwwwww

  • Such a great re-mix of this legendary tune!!

  • that was nice but where the hell was Don Cornelius saying "Peace...Love...and Soooooooooooouuuuulllllllll"???? It ain't a tribute w/o that!

It continues, inexorably, on to infinity.

  • Was there ever anything better than a Saturday afternoon as a young child? I was probably 7 when I started to watch this back in the early 1970's. It was amazing energy visually, and he was just... very cool.

  • do that thang, do that funk thang baby, do it

  • We were skinny because we got off the couch, played tennis, had sports after school, no processed food, hormones in the livestock, our mothers put a pot on the stove and cooked meals at home, there was a bowl of fruit on the diningroom table,we had a schedule for meals instead of eating on the fly and snacking all the time, need I say more. It was a different time, thats why I don't see why a brother that made such a difference in a better time could go out like that. You will be missed Mr.Cornelius.

  • @cookietwosweet You summed it up well about why people were in such better shape then. Today: junk food and dieting/gyms...it's all a market that depends on each other, evil! RIP Don, thanks for the grooves!

  • @HunterMann Thank-you for your positive response.

  • @pmerk36 all women were much skinnier 39 years ago, processed food and McDonald's that's what happened

  • @pmerk36 Yeah and when I tell my friend she doesn't believe me, but I don't even have to look at vintage Soul Train clips to know that black women were very skinny back then, all I have to is see pics of my Mom and my godmothers and her other friends back then.

  • WGN was an amazing channel in the 70's. For a white kid from a smallish South Texas town, the Chicago channel was the only way to get outside culture pumped into my life. WGN introduced me to my first music videos with Night Flight, my first Japanese animation with Battleship Yamoto and Robotech and, yes... my first real taste of black culture and the beginning of my realization that the very soul of America was black... SOUL TRAIN. Rest in Peace, Don Cornelius, you blew my boundaries wide open.

  • R.I.P. the man with lots of soul and groovy threads....Don, you will be missed. Thank you for admired fans who keeps the soul train going....

  • A sad day for anyone who's life was made funkier through SOUL TRAIN.

    RIP Don C.

  • Did anyone else notice the bag of weed the guy dropped at 0:59 ??

  • @tracyfamily hell ya

  • @tracyfamily yeah, and? It was the 70s. LOL.

  • Comment removed

  • @tracyfamily OMG! Ur so Funny, I wouldn't be surprised if it was, cause we did a lot of having fun & smoking bud in the 70's; the great music & real stand by ur side friends just made it better. But I'm sure Don didn't play that on his show. Man, I sure do miss the good ole' days. Mr.Cornelius u r Loved" pray u find Peace" may God have mercy on ur Soul....

  • @tracyfamily Dope was very common...it still is. Nothing wrong with that. It could've been worse.

  • REST IN PEACE SOUL FATHER...You gave us soooo much!!!

  • RIP Don!!! Thanks!

  • Rest In Peace and THANKS FOR ALL YOU'VE GIVEN US.
