This is a very very early beta of windows mobile 6.5, but newer builds such as 21xxx are ALOT more stable, and they are the ones pressent in the newer released HTC Imagio and Tilt2...But Honeycomb is gone, you might be able to get a CAB file to get it. Beta is not a valid excuse for that laggy interface. Beta is supposed to be like a final release except for small bugs. This is a major down. It would not be very condonable even for an Alfa version.
Too bad. I had hopes for 6.5, but MS failed to deliver yet again.
Consider the fact that the 6.5 OS was released from MS, but the XDA Developers community modified it and made it work for this phone. HTC did not do this, and it wasn't professionally done, as it wasn't supposed to be done. The final version will be better, and there is now a handful of phones that work with 6.5, and keep in mind that this video was released February 18th. Its 6 months passed that date.
I wish MS started supporting capacitive touchscreens. The only OS that supports them (besides OS X) is Android. I don't count Blackberry with their Storm, that was a failure. HTC Hero looks nice, only major complaint - it's laggy as heck, though HTC promissed to fix it with software update. If WinMo and Android become as fast and smooth as iPhone, I'll be all over them. Multitasking and no ridiculous Apple app store approval process FTW.

The video is actually titled alpha. I think he made a mistake in the video. If you didn't notice, this video was created in February. There have been many updates to WM6.5 since then that make it much more responsive.

I have WinMo 6.5 on my T-Mobile Wing (A lot worse device than the one in the video) and it runs very smoothly. Scrolling works wonderfully, unlike in the video. This was just an early alpha, but the beta that I'm running works great, even on a real old phone like mine.
I'm defensibly correct from what I see in the video its a Fact it appears painfully slow and sluggish, I had the 6.1 pro and it was garbage thats why I ad to let it go. however I have not seen or tested the final version (6.5) to see how responsive and smooth it is. but i really doubt that its going to be even near as responsive and smooth as the iphone. but again we have to see it to believe it. :) by the way i'm not iphone fanboy because of many none sense restriction and lack of flash.

In case you guys haven't noticed already. All the "big 3" mobile manufacturers are releasing 3 new touch phones this summer and they're all running the Symbian series 60 5th edition. Those are Nokia N97, Samsung i8910 Omnia HD, and Sony Ericsson Idou. In addition, the chairman of T-Mobile's parent company have announced that they'll not be producing WM units for contracted sales anymore, but that Google Android will be the "New Windows Mobile". I guess that's pretty much it for WM huh.

Well, yes- but it's just the official launch event at Microsoft Tech-Ed 2009 in Los Angeles. The RTM will follow soon, and then a few higher-end devices may get an upgrade path.

Nice review, but the reviewer obviously hasn't used the standard HTC Touch HD with old WinMo 6.1. The software already on the HTC Touch HD is similar, with the scrolling, stop scrolling with a touch, 3D-like shaded bars etc.
OK, so it'll be more official and through-out the actual OS & not just on the HTC based stuff.
Whats SAD about WinMo OS is the stupid WHiTE backgrounds with BLACK text. So stupid & so ugly!

It's looks really cool, but it runs slow as balls! They really need to update the hardware these these phones are running on. Are they still using 64MB of RAM or something? Upgrade to like 256MB. And get a better, more responsive touch screen. Damn.

*Looks at Touch Pro* Actually, yes. The reason why iPhone appears so "smooth" is because it lacks multitasking; only one app can be used at a time. Open an app, go to the homescreen and open another one. Guess what? The app you opened previously will be closed.
You are mistaking my friend, Iphone does not actually close the apps, you can listen to your music and surf the web using safari. I experienced that even in the middle of a game if you go to the homescreen and open another app, once you go back it continues exactly at the point you left. What about scrolling? what about the excellent safari? what about fantastic photo album and multitouch? When do we get the same features on WM devices? How come even 650Mhz processor can not run WM smoothly?
The only app that seems to be able to run in the background is "iPod". Opera mobile is just as good as Safari. Touchflo 3D has a great photoalbum. Multitouch isn't really necessary.
And the Windows 6.5 thats running on the HD is just a Beta version which is not even made for this device. It's like installing android on a Touch HD - it won't run smooth.
This video is just about how the Windows Mobile 6.5 looks. Btw - It doens't look good. Let's wait for an all new WM7

take a close look it is not smooth at all, menu is pretty sluggish too.
I don't buy the idea that it is not smooth because of the BETA version, from experience we know there would never be much improvements. take X1 as an example.

I like touch flo 3D a lot more. The only thing I like about 6.5 is the nicer 3D-like graphics.

I'm done with Windows mobile It is still unreliable and will be.. I have HTC Touch HD paid over 1000 when came out .I compare it with with my wife Iphone and can't wait for next version os and hardware I'm going to be an Iphone user!

Well, yes- but it's just the official launch event at Microsoft Tech-Ed 2009 in Los Angeles. The RTM will follow soon, and then a few higher-end devices may get an upgrade path.
I'm just really anxious for "Pink" the WinMo Zune project. Hoping to see how well that goes.

Nice review, but the reviewer obviously hasn't used the standard HTC Touch HD with old WinMo 6.1. The software already on the HTC Touch HD is similar, with the scrolling, stop scrolling with a touch, 3D-like shaded bars etc.
OK, so it'll be more official and through-out the actual OS & not just on the HTC based stuff.
Whats SAD about WinMo OS is the stupid WHiTE backgrounds with BLACK text. So stupid & so ugly!
Look at the HTC skin/Ui.. white text on a black background is so much Better!!!

It's looks really cool, but it runs slow as balls! They really need to update the hardware these these phones are running on. Are they still using 64MB of RAM or something? Upgrade to like 256MB. And get a better, more responsive touch screen. Damn.

That particular phone(HTC Touch HD) has about 288MB of ram. The reason it is slow is because its an alpha; there are still many bugs to work out.

Honestly I love WM6 and been using it for months and I HAVE NO IPHONE!, but why don't you have the courage to admit iphone is far smoother and better looking?
We can only improve when we see and learn from the defects.

I believe Microsoft and manufacturers should improve their products so that users like me enjoy their WM. looking at iphone I always feel we are way behind it. and my complain is that Iphone came out 2yrs ago and it is a looooooooooong time for cell industry. How come WM devices can not compete yet?
I would like my WM device to be as smooth and fast as Iphone, cause I don't like apple and I love being able to install WM apps

*Looks at Touch Pro* Actually, yes. The reason why iPhone appears so "smooth" is because it lacks multitasking; only one app can be used at a time. Open an app, go to the homescreen and open another one. Guess what? The app you opened previously will be closed.

You are mistaking my friend, Iphone does not actually close the apps, you can listen to your music and surf the web using safari. I experienced that even in the middle of a game if you go to the homescreen and open another app, once you go back it continues exactly at the point you left. What about scrolling? what about the excellent safari? what about fantastic photo album and multitouch? When do we get the same features on WM devices? How come even 650Mhz processor can not run WM smoothly?

The only app that seems to be able to run in the background is "iPod". Opera mobile is just as good as Safari. Touchflo 3D has a great photoalbum. Multitouch isn't really necessary.

Actually it has a 528 Mhz CPU.
And the Windows 6.5 thats running on the HD is just a Beta version which is not even made for this device. It's like installing android on a Touch HD - it won't run smooth.
This video is just about how the Windows Mobile 6.5 looks. Btw - It doens't look good. Let's wait for an all new WM7

I've always been a fan of WM, and had several devices, but let's face it,
not only there's no improvements, but WM6.5 destroyed the last things we cared for!
take a close look it is not smooth at all, menu is pretty sluggish too.
I don't buy the idea that it is not smooth because of the BETA version, from experience we know there would never be much improvements. take X1 as an example.
Iphone came out two years ago and is still much better, no company could get even close,
