  • by the way it's tribute ... not a duel

  • My two favorite guitarists, but I like page a little better.

  • Jimmy Page play whatever he wants just thinking of it, he doesn't need to focus in the notes like almost every single guitar player around. While their fingers are moving, the music just flows like in the 45 minute version of 'Dazed and Confused'.

David Gilmour focus in the notes he's going to play to make them sound soulful, passionate and melodic like in 'Echoes'.

Everyone has different ways to appreciate the way a guitarist plays but, I prefer Jimmy Page because he's Jimmy Page.

  • mmmmmmmmm.....dammy pagilmour

sounds like an italian taxi driver

  • gilmour!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Best guitar players ever

  • Não minha opinião são os dois maiores guitarristas da história do Rock!

  • david gilmour and page foreveeer

  • thanks so much for the video and the amazingly valuable feature .I'm a huge fan of both of them and really curios for any thing that may get them to perform together

  • @KarmicOmen No man, I said the man who wrote the solo, not The Who and Pete Townshend :D

  • The who has written the solo of Comfrotably Numb PUSE

  • David Gilmour

  • TONE BENDER wins!

  • Different styles! Besides, Pink Floyd had more accomplished albums than Led Zeplin did.

  • @MrDerake I beg to differ. But I also beg not to compare. It's like saying whether you liked Mozart or Beethoven more.

  • le casting de rêve

  • @bobmoorane

    La cintreuse âme

  • best youtube caption i've ever read. well said

  • Your videos are beautiful, wonderful. I love these two guitarists. They are the best..Very nice tributes to two of the greatest

  • @RockDreams1000

Thank you very much .. appreciate the positive feedback.

Both David and JP, for very different reasons, are tied at #1 for me.

  • I believe your three Page & Gilmour videos may be the only ones on youtube of their kind so they are unique for one thing. Also, what a top notch editing job on all of three, showing two guitar gods at their best.

  • @MoonbatsAreDingbats

    Thank you ...

True ... Jimmy and David featured individually, there seems to be literally thousands of videos on this site; however, there are none or very few Page/Gilmour combination videos. To some extent, that was my inspiration for creating this series.

  • Excellent!

  • Excellent video, I love the idea! I'm a big Page fan, but an even bigger Gilmour fan. I've often thought before that they are the two most unique guitarists, but never pursued the thought any further. Nicely done!

I think a part of the solo in Achille's Last Stand by Led Zepp sounds like a mix of Gilmour and Santana haha.

  • Gilmour > Page. IMO. Not even jazz men can bend his way...

  • @greg69006

David arches insanely high! How long he sustains notes is just unbelievable. Ha ha ... I call it "hang time". Who does that? Okay, well he does, but who else? Yeah, I'm drawing a blank. No one I can readily think of.

As someone who's picked up an electric guitar maybe twice in my life, and only to move it out of my way, I can only imagine what it must feel like to play like that. Pretty damn good, no doubt!

  • @greg69006

Two of my very favorite Gilmour solos:

01 - David: Ibiza Bar, very cool

03 - David: A Pillow of Winds, very pretty

  • @greg69006 Dude I've seen Page pull off 3 note bends on the 1st fret... if that's what you're even talking about. Anyway Page > Gilmour IMO. I probably prefer Floyd more as band, but I can't escape the fact that every time I hear Page I almost jizz my pants.

Since I've Been Loving You is just mind blowing, nothing trumps it... nothing.

  • David Gilmour > Jimmy Page. IMO

  • Come on, everyone knows thay if they had a guitar duel the universe would rip apart because that much awesome epic power is too much for reality to resist.

  • @mauriciohavok

Hmm, indeed ... like a modern day, electronic clash of the Titans.

  • Excellent video !!

they are my fav guitarists too ^^

what kind of software are you using ? cause it's brilliant thanks :)

  • @Stairwaytoheaven06

    Thank you.

David and JP rank equally as #1 on my list of favorite guitarists. Not only are they too different to compare fairly, it is out of deep respect for both that I could never split my loyalties by choosing one over the other. God, I think fan guilt alone would kill me ;o)

  • @Stairwaytoheaven06

Pinnacle Studio Ultimate, Version12 is what I use for software, which I plan on upgrading to Version 14 -- if I don't go with a different program altogether.

Pinnacle isn't bad, but certainly there is far better. It can be glitchy; can hang and crash for no apparent reason. Thankfully though, upon re-opening the project it almost always brings you to where you were when it crapped out on you.

  • @KarmicOmen thx I know there are better softwares but there are not free :(

but this, is really cool or maybe it's just the video who gives me this illusion xD

thx a lot I will download it !

  • @Stairwaytoheaven06

JUST AN FYI: Pinnacle isn't free -- cool extras, purchased separately of course.

  • @KarmicOmen hahaha !! and I'm agree with you about the comparison !

  • @Stairwaytoheaven06

This is a 3-part series -- also check out PART 2 and PART 3.

  • @KarmicOmen yeah I know thanks ! I watched them and it's just excellent as the first video !

  • @Stairwaytoheaven06

    Thanks ...

Hey, check out my Originals vs. Remakes, parts 1 through 4. I think you will like them a lot.

  • the song at 1:29 is?'

  • @Brandon18valensi

Tracks featured are noted in the description above ... scroll to the bottom for listing.

  • @Brandon18valensi

David Gilmour: "A Pillow of Winds" off Pink Floyd's 1971 Meddle album

  • sorry kitty its pagey everytime for me!! i also give him extra points for pulling a sweet guitar face to!! xx

  • @lukenewland

Don't be sorry -- Page kicks ass ;o)

  • what song is that at 3:03?

  • @JohnMcQJr

The name of the song is "More Blues" -- the 10th track from Pink Floyd's 1969 soundtrack from the film "More". Cool tune, hmm?

  • 0:01 through 7:16

Leaves a woman speechless ... if not, seek professional help to cure what ails you.

  • @KarmicOmen Great job on this video of both of the world's best guitarists. Yes double imaging in film is hair pulling to say the least. You sound like a writer as well as someone into film. Love Castellorizon so can't wait to see the next one. I love both these guitarists but have to vote GILMOUR best, although Page is pretty talented indeed. Love your channel. I subbed you. Thanks for your videos.

    Patty

  • @PinkPrism008

"Ibiza Bar" (first song featured in video) goes back a long way -- one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs overall. You are correct, I am "into" writing and film. Being a statistics and fiscal reports analyst can be mundane and mentally draining. Creating videos is a great escape from the real world ;o) Thank you so much for subscribing to my channel.

  • And aww that's so cool about your son! I've been trying to convert my family to Led Zeppelinism but no such luck! Tell your son to give Alvin Lee a listen, he's my second favourite guitarist, from the band Ten Years After -- my favourite song of theirs is Help Me, it's got a great blues guitar solo, you both might like it =) if you haven't already heard it.

Oh, I couldn't upload my Jimmy video! There were copyright issues =( and I was so proud of it. I don't know how anyone uploads anything.

  • @LedHeadTillDeath Oh, no ... well, that bites. Hang in there. I have to go see my sister later, but we'll talk soon. Just out of curiosity, was it WMG? (as if I even needed to ask). If it's any consolation, WMG is despised on an epic scale -- a global scale ... no, make that a biblical scale.

  • Wow you're right that Gilmour tune is mystifying! I'd actually never heard Hummingbird before, I'm insanely obsessed with Led Zeppelin (and that's an understatement!) but somehow I've never been into their solo careers, it's just not the same. I listen to Pink Floyd casually, I'm not a huge fan or anything but they're definitely in my top ten.

    Second fav band: Cream.

    Third: Ten Years After.

    Fourth: The Yardbirds.

Gets a bit loose after there. Aha, Floydaholic, that's cool!

  • @LedHeadTillDeath

Led Zeppelin had some deep, intelligently written lyrics ... far from being simpleminded; whereas most bands today make me scratch my head. Pink Floyd is "acquired wisdom" -- knowledge gained with time. Young fans tend to like PF's sound long before that cognitive light bulb flickers. My son is 14 and loves them, but won't get them for some time yet. Watching The Wall at 16 I lost interest quick. At age 25 it was a cool movie. At 30 it emotionally affected me to tears.

  • @LedHeadTillDeath The 60's was my dad's generation ... got me started early on what's now called Classic Rock -- and he was a huge Elvis fan. Name it, he owned it, and I heard it constantly. A classic rock junkie, I got my kid hooked. His first favorite was Highway Star at age 3. He's into Zeppelin, Floyd, Hendrix, Beatles, Beach Boys, Sinatra (big fan), Doors, Motown, and bands you mentioned -- he knows most of the lyrics, and now borrows from my collection. That's one cool kid ;o)

  • @LedHeadTillDeath The Blue by David Gilmour: The first time I heard that solo I either held or lost my breath -- or was just so stunned that I actually forgot to breathe ;o) Led Zeppelin is a monkey on my back. Like you, I'm hardcore addicted. Going without them too long -- I call that a Zeppelin crash. Well, I'm not kicking the habit any time soon.

  • @LedHeadTillDeath Solo careers: People don't always make a separate distinction; especially with singers ... Henley/Eagles, Gilmour/Floyd, Sting/Police. When Waters left Floyd, fans credited his work ... but fans also take sides, and it got quite ugly. By a landslide, Waters' megalomania alienated people, while David was viewed as more likable and irreplaceable. David's guitar playing ... the obvious reason one would think, but the bigger reason people noted was his voice.

  • @LedHeadTillDeath Remember the timing options we talked about? At 1:49 of David Gilmour & Jimmy Page 2, the is song "Castellorizon". Double imaging is the worst to work with ... got to the point of my sanity vs. video accuracy. If I had a dime for every swear word exclaimed that day, I'd be a millionaire ;o)

  • Thanks again for making this! You inspired me to buy very old Floyd I didn't own. Thanks for lighting a fire under my ass! PS....you changed channel backgrounds AGAIN? I always said you have the attention span of a squirrel! j/k, you know I luv-u!

  • @Beatpoet7371

Yeah, you got me pegged -- guilty as charged! Had you owned old Pink Floyd all along, you would have known David's guitar works featured here (nothing like rubbing it in). Better late than never -- well, decades late for you, cowboy ;o)

  • @AlexandriaDaniels LOL! Yes maam!

  • @AlexandriaDaniels Hey, Ali-Cat -- thought you'd find that amusing; so glad I made you smile! Razor sharp? You're far too kind (you must want something). Sent you a message -- reply when you can. Until then ...

  • @KarmicOmen I said Dave in my message, saw that after it went out. I got lazy.

  • @Beatpoet7371

To answer your question: "A Pillow of Winds" is said to have been inspired by the tiles game Mah-Jong ... unsure why. The song consists of light bass and acoustic guitar, but I'm not sure if David (uh, Dave?!) is playing electric guitar tracks or the slide in addition to. Wearing headphones, I pick up on distinctly different instrument sounds. In various songs on the album you can hear wind blowing. Pink Floyd is a headphones "must" to hear things you otherwise miss.

  • @Beatpoet7371 Album releases that the songs came from: 01 - DG 1969: "More" Soundtrack 02 - JP 1976: "Presence" 03 - DG 1971: "Meddle" 04 - JP 1975: "Physical Graffiti" 05 - DG 1969: "More" Soundtrack 06 - JP 1988: "Outrider" 07 - DG 1972: "Obscured by Clouds" 08 - JP 1988: "Outrider" 09 - DG 2006: "On an Island" 10 - JP 1988: "Outrider"
  • OOPS.

#08 is from 1973 Houses of the Holy album

  • @Beatpoet7371 Need help? Here is the complete list: 01 - David: Ibiza Bar (very cool, very trippy) 02 - JP: Achilles Last Stand 03 - David: A Pillow of Winds 04 - JP: Bron-Yr-Aur (studio) 05 - David: More Blues 06 - JP: Prison Blues 07 - David: Wot's... Uh the Deal? 08 - JP: Over the Hills and Far Away 09 - David: The Blue 10 - JP: Hummingbird
  • Note ... #04 by Jimmy Page: Bron-Yr-Aur (studio); originally recorded in July 1970

  • You know all this stuff? Wow! You'd have to be hardcore and diehard. How much of them do you actually own?

  • Nice video. Anything with these guys is cool. It's a little obscure but I guess that makes it challenging? I know I got four or five. The first one I like a lot too, but don't know it. If I don't get them after I to go through it a few more times, you gotta tell me.
