How can anybody even compare Glam to Grunge? They're so entirely different...depending on my mood I could be up for some Poison or Motley Crue and then later want to hear some Veruca Salt or Nirvana...I don't see how people can compare the two or argue over which is better...they're both good for what they are. Grunge just happened to be "the next big thing" and got just as commercialized as glam metal did by the time it was over. And they'll both be back again in due time anyway.

No they don't. The hair bands ran their course, just like disco and the boy bands did. Whether grunge came or not the LA scene was dead by 1991. All grunge did was push away its corpse.

Grunge was no less an MTV fad than hair metal. Spandex and good times gave way to flannel shirts and sulking, but when it comes down to it grunge was merely the next big thing. And MTV eventually ditched it just like it ditched hair metal.
