Could you chant it in English or ones native language. It seems to me the connections would be better but I know nothing of chanting so I basically just curious about how it works. I was thinking chanting both the traditional way and in English. Is that wrong?
@uilium if you go to the Youtube search bar and type in chanting daimoku in english hopefully that should help you out otherwise I don't really think that there is an english translation for this chant! Quite simply, nam myoho renge kyo or better still you can go to the sgi web site for further information!
Any chant that bring us to get to know our mind closly or become stable or bring us to get peace in mind or be able to see our mind when we are greedy, angry or under a delusion, that is a good chant. Buddhism is just an easy way like this.
I can't believe this is the way of our Buddhism worship, the way Buddhist chant. It's too fast for me, I am habitual in a slow style like in Thailand. Near my house, there is one kind of Buddhism also that so different from the major Buddist in general. But all I believe they love peace in mind. One thing we should always remember that any group we join is following the way of Buddha or not, be free mind not under a delusion to go on your right way.

The daimoku chant goes something like this, nam myoho renge kyo! Now, I can either suggest you google the meaning of the chant or go to sgi.org for further information! That is one aspect of SGI that has not been properly analyzed and explained yet.

Nam Myoho Renge Kyo means devotion to the Mystic Law of cause and effect (karma) through the power ofsound vibration. The dialect is a form of an ancient Chinese mixed with sanskrit. The practice is from Japan.

We don't worship the Buddha, Nichiren or President Ikeda. They are mentors and guides with which, we too can bring about our Buddha nature for the sake of world peace.

Could you chant it in English or ones native language. It seems to me the connections would be better but I know nothing of chanting so I basically just curious about how it works. I was thinking chanting both the traditional way and in English. Is that wrong?

@uilium if you go to the Youtube search bar and type in chanting daimoku in english hopefully that should help you out otherwise I don't really think that there is an english translation for this chant! Quite simply, nam myoho renge kyo or better still you can go to the sgi web site for further information!

Any chant that bring us to get to know our mind closly or become stable or bring us to get peace in mind or be able to see our mind when we are greedy, angry or under a delusion, that is a good chant. Buddhism is just an easy way like this.

I can't believe this is the way of our Buddhism worship, the way Buddhist chant. It's too fast for me, I am habitual in a slow style like in Thailand. Near my house, there is one kind of Buddhism also that so different from the major Buddist in general. But all I believe they love peace in mind. One thing we should always remember that any group we join is following the way of Buddha or not, be free mind not under a delusion to go on your right way.

@BowToMySkill As of now I've been a practicing buddhist for about 4 years going on my 5th year now! Take some time out to check out other buddhist chanting videos! The daimoku chant goes something like this, nam myoho renge kyo! Now, I can either suggest you google the meaning of the chant or go to sgi.org for further information! If my suggestions helps then I think tat I will have done my part but, if not more power to ya!

I'm not a Buddhist, and I'm NOT suffering. Buddha was full of crap, because not everyone suffers. These people are in a cult. Talking to a paper inside a box, does absolutely nothing. It's just a way to make you delirious, and waste hours of your life (you're supposed to chant longer and longer) chanting these meaningless words. There is no "cause and effect" outside humanity! You do that to people 1000x, and Ikeda will begin to dominate the mind of that follower. Its all done deliberately, and carefully. That is one aspect of SGI that has not been properly analyzed and explained yet.

According to friends of mine, who live in Japan,the upper echelons of SGI, are fabulously wealthy, and more disturbing things- they are very political, and even maintain communes in Japan, guarded, gated apartment blocks where members live, and aren't really allowed much outside contact.
