so i watch this video and i cant belive it that on toyota supra n/a motor you can put turbo...tats great adn good job...just tell me one thing. Have you got all pipes with a turbo or you gave it to produce because I think it has certain differences between the original turbo engine, and this n / a
nice man, my na had 190,00 miles on it when i put the turbo on it it now has 240,00 and its running great. im plaining on getting a new engine but that just goes to show how good these engines are
@Schef300 what car are you looking at? The body on this is totally standard you retard. Where are the Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements you talk about? Theres no bolt on body bits like you would with your average Rice'd up civic...?
@ILikeToExplore he will be on standard compression at 10psi. Any more boost and he would have needed to change the compression and add a standalone ecu/engine management system to up the air-fuel mixture> Na/t supras rock
Pretty nice all around, when I turboed my supra(85) I had trouble finding the right width 3" V-Band clamp on the turbo, went through 5 of em, the "B" measurement was to narrow, did this kit come with any trouble like that?
OK question... im hearing this NA NA-T talk wtf does it mean.. plz dont tell me it stands for naturally aspirated and naturally aspirated-turbo... because if it does... wow... really.. wow..
nice car mate, what city was the guy u sold it to ? man, i wanted to get that bonnet but i was at work and forgot that the auction is closing at 7 or so... whould be nice to see it to the next supra meeting in akl or somewhere

verrryyyy nice and help full video just got my 93 na and i was thinking to go turbo but was wondering how much ur pushing and how much more money would i save rather then buying the 2jz swap cuz i got my 93 for 10gs and wanting to spend around 6-8 more on engine info pls pm or somthing sir!!!!!! 5 on the vid btw
thats actually a VERY smart idea. take for instance, you have a eclipse gs and a gst, if you turbo the gs, it would fuck up the gst, cause of the turbo compression on the NA motor. VERY SMART, GOOD WORK STSUPRA94
@Audi2000t why would you replace boost with high compression?? make 400hp with high compression low boost is better than 400hp low compression high boost... Less lag, less wear and tear.
@TypeR891 yes it may be less lag and require less boost to make similar power. i did turbo charge a r31 rb30e years back, and it made nice power, had some nice mid range torque but fuck all output power and the most i could run was about 10psi.
at the end of the day low compression motors, high boost, proper tune will always make more OUTPUT power compared to high compression low boost.
@Audi2000t The only reason that a Low comp Hi boost setup will make more power is because of knock If you had C16 with Hi comp and low boost it would give a farrr better power band But if you want a dyno queen with the highest number possible you would run Low compression But it wont have nearly as good a powerband
NA stands for naturally aspirated.. no turbo, no super charger... IS 300 is a good car,, but hp for NA is like 230 max at rear wheels..but if you turbo the 2jz-.. you can get anywhere from 300rwhp ++ depending on how much psi you run.. but NA imo is a growing market for IS's... im going NA for now. until i can afford 10g for a turbo.
Question.. Why (0:57) does the turbo have 2 exhaust outlets ? Is it something to do with the wastegate ? Pardon my ignorance - I always thought all available exhaust gas went through the turbine..?
umm for a decent turbo your looking at an overal price of like 2g to 6g,, depending on how much you want to spend, you will need to change alot more so the engine is prepted to handla a turbo such as cams.. rings,, crank etc.
Brother trust me, dont buy anything until you know how much power you want!!! decide on how much power you want first before you get parts not the other way around, especially that 4inch dragger exhaust your car might sound alright but it will run rough, stall n even cause you to lose power rather then gain if you don't match it with decent kws.
y does everyone say u can make more power with a 2jzgte then a ge when the only difference is oil squirts?? I was at a work shop in Sydney and they tested a gte head against a ge head and the ge head had a MUCH better flow then the turbo head. if i had my choice of engines to build up from scratch i would choose a 2jzge
Cheers man, yeah I know the GE is a great base to turbo, the head does flow better, the biggest down side is that it's a high compression engine. But overcome by changing the head gasket or pistons. I'm just running std compression and low boost...it's a nice allround power band on and off boost. great for the street.
Iv got a wrecked mk4 im building at the moment no engine yet but im planing to get a ge and use cp pistons with a toyota gte gasket , I managed to pick up a r154 with 1j bell housing rather then go for the w58 so I should be able to push some descent power.
Have you ever had any experience with mapecu2, know of any supras in NZ or AUS using it???
Don't know much about the mapecu. I've got a GTE map sensor, and a Greedy emanage ultimate piggyback. Works great. Your project sounds great. you on facebook??
the GTE has more then just oil squirters. It has thicker galleys and lands for the bearings, a stronger crank shaft, stronger internals stock (easy enough fix), oil squirters ARE EXTREMELY important for high boost applications, and other things are a little different.
The 2jzge was built by toyota, the 2jz gte was built by some company in germany.
nah man i know for FACT!!! block, crank, pistons (ge high comp), rods are exactly the same parts. i know vvt versions arnt the same internals, if you goin for 1000hp then yeah squirters are important but 4 street using quality pistons who cares.
I dont think thats right about being made in Germany , I know the 2jzgTe v160/v161 transmission was made by Getrag which is a German company but not the engine.
dude the final development/design was done by them. But they were still made in Japan, I'm not saying the engines are the same...just the bottom end, the head is not even close. Below is just a copy and patse from some sites.
"It's mechanical basis was the existing 2JZ-GE, but differed in its use of sequential twin turbochargers, an air-to-air, front-mounted intercooler. The block, crank, and connecting rods of the 2JZ-GE and 2JZ-GTE are the same with the exception that the 2JZ-GTE has oil jets on the connecting rods to aid in cooling the pistons"
"The 2JZ-GTE is an inline-layout, six-cylinder, belt-driven dual-overhead camshaft, air-intercooled, twin-turbocharged, cast-iron engine designed and manufactured by Toyota Motor Corporation that was produced from 1991 through 2002 in Japan. Final development of the 2JZ-GTE was outsourced to German engineering firm Johann A. Krause Maschinenfabrik GmbH for refinement to meet production car homogolation"
Correction. crank on the GE and GTE are exactly the same. for instance. say you have a 2JZ-GE.. put TT rods, pistons. HG and youll virtually have a GTE except the head. the head isnt possible to put on there. the only diff from GTE and GE.. like you said. oil squirters, coil packs, diff head. GE technicly can be a better track car cuz the exhaust side flows better than the TT does so you can run bigger turbo with less lag. but TT in general is les of a head ache
Nice video, i have one question, I have 1993 Supra MKIV with 2JZ-GE engine and Automatic transmission and I want to buy 2JZ-GTE engine with Manual transmission, it's possible to do this swap??? thks anyway
Not worth it. At all. Your looking at 10000 for the entire swap. And even if you swap a GTE into a GE, it still wont make even close the how much power the GTE does.
What are the specs of this conversion?
