this is a very massive updraft..updrafts can be windy as mild tornado, and often mistaked as such. this updraft is caused by warm air rising up towards the cold front. which these drafts can also be precurses to tornados, hence the rotation that is apparent in this video. if you look closely, there is rotation.
my diagnosis, this an updraft, THAT MAY HAVE spawned a tornado..but probably would have been a short lived one if at all
Doesn't look like a tornado to me. No rotation I could see. I have seen this berfore and it is the storm gathering moisture and building explosively. It is basically scud on steroids. Scud behaves in the same manner. Low level moisture rising, condensing, andmeeting with the base of the storm. This is just my opinion. I wasn't there to see it but I have seen this before.
Im a meteorologist, yes, its a multaple vortacie tornado. Theyre hard to see, but you can see them a few times. Its a tornado for sure because it has a condensaion funnel ( funnel made out of clouds )
@SMITEM1 It is definitely not a multiple VORTEX tornado. It is a single vortex tornado that is barely able to keep together and is an EF-0. Like I said, go back to school and learn the context of what you are talking before you let your fingers fly. The only reason why it is not a gustnado is due to the fact that there is a small debris field near the base of the column of air.
@SMITEM1 Notice that I never said there was not such a thing as a "multiple vortices tornado", I said that you need to check the context of how you are using the word. When defining a tornado that is producing multiple vortexes or vortices, it is referred as a multiple vortex tornado.
looks to me like rapidly rising scud clouds but I don't see rotation, so it may just have missed the tornado world. Also, I see no wall cloud ( from where a real tornado usually appears ) but rather a near-flat base, so it could have been rapidly rising scud in a unstable airmass that would have produced a landspout rather than a real tornado, had there been more rotation.
yes that is a twister just not a very configured vortex dont be fooled by those people thats some rare footage that just ment the under flowing winds wernt strong enough witch those undefinde vortex are also well known to fourm into wedge tornados
i had to watch it over and over to get a thery i think its a small tornado forming but is near a fire therefore the smoke is going up into the twister :)
if it didnt twist and just rise i'd think it was smoke but since it is twisting it is a tornado...its like a hesitant tornado..it doesnt know whether or not to stay on the ground or go up
its a tornado, if things are being drawn up from thr ground, and not pulled left or right in the sky, it may classify as a weak, f0 tornado, (it didnt look organized)
i've seen videos of structures like this here on youtube though. definitely a phenomenon that can occur in the context of a tornadic storm cloud obviously.
Zierek i am a ceritified storm chaser in the usa known as "SKYWARN" from what it looked like in the video it was.... to me a landspout tornado theres no wall cloud from what ive noticed so it defenatly was a landspout tornado, they arrange in the stages EF0-EF3 anywhere from 65-130 mph wind gust ,so just thank god you and your family were safe... nice video of twister action there... god bless ya
it is funnel cloud which never touched the ground because of the temperature differnece. the funnel cloud is cold condensde water. but the ground is a lot warmer so it keeps on pushing it up. therefore it is unlikely it willbe a tornado. if it is a tornado it is a very week and short lived one
ive had enough of your lame comebacks.your cluttering my inbox with your retarted messages,no your the one whos goning to be F***ing yourself now,so go do it!
No need to apology. :-) It is not very well known that tornadoes are a rather frequent phenomen in Europe as well as in the US, though we experience less tornadoes. The ratio of weak and violent tornadoes is the same as in the US, but there are less tornadoes than in the US. Germany, for example, was hit by the last F5 in 1800 and by the last F4 in 1968. Since then, we had some F3. But an F5 could strike again at any time. The last F5 in Europe was in 1970 in Venice AFAIK.
This is not completely correct. While the US have switched from the F scale to the EF scale, in Europe, I still see the old F scale being used much more frequently than the EF scale. Also, the T (Torro) scale is very popular in Europe. And as this tornado appeared in Poland, the use of the F scale instead of the EF scale is more correct, IMHO.
1. To be classified as a tornado, it HAS to be on the ground! Not being on the ground is NO criterium for an F0 rating, not being is a criterium for NOT classifying a funnel as a tornado!
2. The (E)F scale uses damage to estimate wind speed. Without knowing what damage this tornado did, you cannot say which rating on the F scale it should get!
3. an F0 IS capable of killing people because of debris flying around!
your nonsense!!!! the funnel is not fully developed!!!! it has to be a fully-on the ground tornado to be an ef-1 or more!!! and if the tornado has no chance of reaching the ground, then you can play in it!!! the winds arent that forceful when the tornado ist even on the freakin ground yet!!! PS. i was just giving an opinion!!! get a life!!
1. This is not about opinions but about scientific facts.
2. From this film, it isn't clear whether the funnel is on the ground or not.
3. To be classified as F0, it has to be on the ground as well. The F scale is only used for tornadoes and NOT for funnel clouds! And a tornado is defined, among other criteria, by touching the ground. And still, an F0 can kill you with debris.
Please, get your facts right and avoid talking about things you don't know anything about. Thanks.
That's wrong as well. The F scale is defined by damage done by the tornado and wind speed estimated through this damage. The funnel has to be on the ground to become a tornado and to get a rating on the F scale. So, every F0 has to be on the ground as well as every F5. Please search for Fujita scale on Wikipedia to get your facts right. Thanks.
Guy, it's getting ridiculous! Google for "enh. fujita page". You will find a page of the storm prediction center of the NOAA. They say the same as Wikipedia:
"The Fujita Scale is a well known scale that uses damage caused by a tornado and relates the damage to the fastest 1/4-mile wind at the height of a damaged structure."
And PLEASE, don't tell me now that NOAA is also wrong! It's the site of the US National Weather Service! That's where the ultimate tornado experts work! ;-)
lots of "if" to go with. "if" there was dedris flying around, the people should've stayed inside. that was their own fault. f0's are in fact completely harmless. they may move some small things like paper of pebbles, but nothing big enough to kill. no where near fast enough either.
Man, you guys really need to get into the field more often. That is a tornado all the way. You can't see what is going on at ground level, because it is beyond and below what is shown here. This thing is just getting started....
yeah its definitely a funnel i really dont know if its in contact with the ground otherwise it would be a tornado but from my viewpoint its just a funnel but yeah it is definitely a funnel cuz you can see the updraft and the anti-cyclonic rotation.
It is a weak vortex. It is probably not fast enough to call a real tornado. The minimum speed is 72 mph. Vortecies pop up all over, some just have a cloud or enough debris to see them, but most are invisible and hardly noticabe. All storms eventually have some rotating part and a true tornado comes from a strong cold front overriding a warm front with enough tension to force the air to funnel through a tight gap. This is cool but I am convinced it doesn't qualify as the real thing.
A multi vortex tornado is my opinion... Rotation is evident. MickeyMacDallas wasn't that wrong... If he meant F1 because it's size, it's false, if he meant F1 because it is multi vortex, it is more true... Because multiple vortex tornadoes in most cases reach intensity at least F2.
Actually, the F-scale is based on damage, not on twister size or number of vortices it produces. While there is a significant updraft, the rotation is very weak. I would call it a landspout at most.
confirmed. tornado. in fact tornadoes have happened before in poland. there NOT just a thing specific to the US. since 1974, the UK has had 400 tornadoes.

I know that it wasn't twister. I think it was something like smoke rising by wind.

Looks like a "polish sausage tornado", they rarely get above F1, and if they do they are often called Braut Twister...
