I'm a conductor. Just though I might shed some light on your thinking. Most time signatures contain less than 13 8th notes. If you find yourself coming up with a time signature longer than that, you're probably just combining a few normal time signatures to create something overly complicated to think about.
@SickyHamiltonTV When I click my sticks together before I start playing, I count 13 1/8th notes, its just like that. It sounds difficult to count because there is a sort of triplet feel to it. Try clapping your hands and counting out loud with my stick clicks and you should be able to get it
great beat man. your camera cannot capture the snare well though. you need to set up a mic rig to record and capture the tone you have. you definitely know what you are doing though. tight playing dude!
@JMorr1029 hey thanks man, always nice to know someone likes what I do! my funds are pretty slim, but my guitarist is an audio engineer so I'm sure he will have a solution for the sound. The snare is a 6.5 x 14 free-floating brass from Pearl with the old hexagonal 80's style lugs, it's got beef like a slaughterhouse and crack like a dope fiend, not to mention a tone totally worth capturing by whatever means possible
@gonzomaniac71 haha i'm sure. i can tell by the way the camera dampens the sound so much that is one punchy snare. a drummer i used to play with used a 5 x 14 Ludwig brass snare that sounded simply amazing. that 6.5 x 14 must be an incredibly deep and pure sounding snare. once i get done buying a new guitar amp, i need to start investing in a snare similar to that for my Gretsch drum set.
Does anyone else notice the resemblance to the pet detective :)

I'm a 15 year old drummer and this is such a good jazz signature to play to..
But... look up Dave Brubeck.. he's amazing.. especially blue rondo a la Turk.. take a listen:) its 9|8 7|8 and 4|4.. its so nice to play with:)

@lBNvSl I love Brubeck, especially his drummer, the late Joe Morello, he was a master of time and one of my biggest influences.

you're just playing 9/8+2/4 123,123,123 12,12
njbhc8 1 month ago
@njbhc8 nice analysis, I never thought of it like that but that actually gives me some new ideas!

@njbhc8
counting 1 on the high hat (at 54 seconds), I see it as 7/8+6/8.
Looks as though the drummer is accenting the 1 of 7/8 and the 1 of 6/8, as well.

@gonzomaniac71 you can count like 1+2+3+4+5+6/1+2+3 then 1+2+1+2=13/8

@gonzomaniac71 I love Dream cymbals, but I'm also poor. Id love some oversized Twenties and Traditionals.
not to whore myself out, but you dont happen to want to buy a cheap(er) Paiste Signature Reflector Bell Ride do you?

@Ankylophobia I dig the ride I got, but thank you for the offer
