if you ask me tyson lost because he was not trainned to be an (all around) fighter what does that mean you may ask? an all around fighter posses all the skills 1. have all the punches 2 have defensive tactics when called for 3 dig down deep and fight toe to toe ferociosly when called for lets examine tyson had all the punches because he knocked douglas down with a uppercut so he was deficient in defense and courage to go 15 rounds

And Douglas was listening to the count. If the ref counted faster, he would've gotten up sooner.

We can look at how both fighters reacted to the uppercut. Douglas is sitting there resting and listening to the referee, while Tyson is stumbling around for his mouthpiece.

Opinion has nothing to do with it, because guess what, ten seconds isn't the significant number. In the rules, a ten count is what means you're out. So until referees are fitted with Swiss movements, getting up at 9 in 9 seconds is the same as getting up at 9 in 3 minutes.

Good insight. Buster fought a great fight and basically had his way w/ Tyson for 10 rounds, but Tyson demonstrated heart in fighting back. Overall, a great fight.

Example, In his prime '86-87 he went the distance 4 times with bigger taller fighters with longer reaches, Mitch Green, James Smith, James Tillis and Tony Tucker.

Even Against Holmes who had been retired for 3years and was washed up with no legs surrvived Mike's early barrages but his age and lack of recent ring time caught up with him.

All of Tyson's highlights are against no names or old men.

As far as the "long count goes." The ref was on top of the Douglas fall immediately. He might have been 1 second off. Anyhow, Douglas stood, confidently at 9 and clear headed. He whipped Tyson's ass from the first Bell till the last, admit it, admire it, accept it. Douglas was the best man that night. Tyson was never the same. The best he could do was bite off ears when he was getting his ass handed to him. So, that is the story of your hero. He was great at 19-24 fighting tomato cans.Then k'od.
