The vid is so much fun and so romantic,and you give the scenes time to develop - I've seen too many S&H vids that have no pacing, just hugs smooshed together that make no real sense. This is sophisticated!! The PoV is cute, like Hutch is thinking the words - and well-paced, and there's something there, like a sardonic, entirely loving look through a sophisticated lens.

While they may have still been married at this point, they were divorcing probably as his marriage dates are until 1977. He had a long-term relationship with Lynne Marta that pretty much spanned the entire series run. Karen and he were still friends, and to this day, still friends. She also appears in season three's Heroes.

I beleive David Soul saying "that's a perfectly valid interpretation" was leaving room for the audience to interpret the realtionship how they chose to. This is what actors often do.. In interviews David Soul has said he gained insight into his character by "Talking with Police Offciers." If you listen to any wife of an officer they will tell you their husband is so close to their partner they seem like their married. Well, years ago they used to say this. Now people might get the wrong idea.

The door was left open for the audience to view the relationship between them any way they wanted, and that all interpretations of that relationship are perfectly valid. Friends or lovers, it didn't matter. What matters is the love between them, NOT how that love is expressed.
Iv'e watched the show and loved it for years, and they LOVED the LADIES ok, no doubt, but you didn't show any of that?...They were 100% heterosexual and loved each other. Use to be a time when no one questioned physical contact between men until it somehow became "tainted" or as the world got to be more "accepting" then they want to go and "question"Starsky and Hutch. It's a shame.

Did you see the DS interview where he stated, unequivocally, that if watchers saw the relationship between them as one of lovers, that that was a *perfectly* *valid* interpretation of their relationship? Did you see the Bill Blinn interview where he stated that the one script he always wanted to write, but never had the guts, was a script in which Van sues Hutch for divorce on the grounds of Alienation of Affection, with STARSKY as the co-respondant?

I beleive Paul Micheal Glaser and David Soul are two straight guys who are so secure about thier own masculinity their not afraid to hug, kiss, touch, and show love and affection in a tactile manner. Jerry Lewis once said he and Dean were the same way. Very tactile in their affection and love for each other. I wish all men could feel the freedom to be so at ease. I think Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul would love the tongue n' cheek humor of the video and the great song too.

Being a woman I'm partial to the episodes when they were in love, and their girlfriends turned out to be hookers, or some other kind of tragic ending LOL!! but yeah gone are the days of that kind of television and physical intimacy between men.

It is so nice to know that they are still each others best friends today. I saw a vid where David was on a talk show and was asked if he ever sees Paul. 'Slashy' basically means gay (for each other) in this context, two men appearing to be more than just friends. When you say that you 'slash' person X and person Y (in this case Starsky and Hutch) it means you support the "pairing".

This was just perfect. I'd love it just for all the little touches and looks, but the images also matched pretty well perfectly with the lyrics. Interspersing the S/H images with pictures of the "them" who would be talking about the boys was really well done.

Well, I've seen two episodes of the show, and was amazed at the amount of subtext! They're always touching, hugging, cuddling, holding hands... There's as much subtext there as there is with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. I don't think they're actually gay, but they do play it up for fun, and I've seen both pairs kiss, so they must do it on purpose.

I beleive Paul Micheal Glaser and David Soul are two straight guys who are so secure about thier own masculinity their not afraid to hug, kiss, touch, and show love and affection in a tactile manner. Jerry Lewis once said he and Dean were the same way. Very tactile in their affection and love for each other. I wish all men could feel the freedom to be so at ease. I think Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul would love the tongue n' cheek humor of the video and the great song too.

@melodydarcy1 Yes they were two straight guys totally secure like you said, wasen't even a question! I got no kind "gay vibe" from the show...ever, not even one little bit. Being a woman I'm partial to the episodes when they were in love, and their girlfriends turned out to be hookers, or some other kind of tragic ending LOL!! but yeah gone are the days of that kind of television and physical intimacy between men.
It's a shame really...Starsky and Hutch forever baby!!

Great video. I have watched this nearly every day and shared it with family and friends. I have always loved Starsky & Hutch and always will. I think the reason so many people loved them as Starsky and Hutch was thier wonderful love and affection for one another. As Starsky and Hutch and as Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul. The humor in this video is really sweet, too. Thanks for making it.

Great vid. Just loved it. You really got them just right. I have always loved these two guys. I have their dvds and I have to watch something of them everyday. It is so nice to know that they are still each others best friends today. I saw a vid where David was on a talk show and was asked if he ever sees Paul. David said that he did and that Paul continues to be his closet best friend. So wonderful.

Great work! one of the things I love most about S&H is all the casual touching between them. They're either VERY comfortable in each other's space or there IS something to talk about. Do you have more S&H vids that YT took down? Why would they take them down? I would love to see!

I LOVE this vid! It always makes me giggle like an idiot, but it's totally worth it! LOVE the editing-- you have some of my favorite clips, but others that don't seem to be used very much in other vids, so it's awesome to see them featured here. great fun, I've put it as a favourite. nice seeing the boys messing around, and the music is great too. I've been reading the comments and I'm sorry to appear thick, but what does slashy mean? is it an Americanism or is is slang for something else? it sounds offensive, pardon my ignorance. I loved the video and its nice to see affection on screen - we see enough blood and guts. starsky and hutch is a joy to watch - love the boys!

'Slashy' basically means gay (for each other) in this context, two men appearing to be more than just friends. When you say that you 'slash' person X and person Y (in this case Starsky and Hutch) it means you support the "pairing".

Ok. Well, I truly thought that your vid "I Want to Know What Love is" was my favorite. Now that I've watched THIS one that is no longer the case! I absolutely LOVE this video! I know all of those scenes from all of those episodes but the way you have put them together with this song -- and included some of the photos -- it's just perfect. PERFECT!!!

This was just perfect. I'd love it just for all the little touches and looks, but the images also matched pretty well perfectly with the lyrics. Interspersing the S/H images with pictures of the "them" who would be talking about the boys was really well done.

I'm just now rediscovering my love affair with these two - what a wonderful pair they make, and what a joy it is to watch them! The fact that they are, in real life, best friends, adds to the pleasure. You know that they didn't snarl at each other and walk away when the director yelled, "Cut!"

Well, I've seen two episodes of the show, and was amazed at the amount of subtext! They're always touching, hugging, cuddling, holding hands... There's as much subtext there as there is with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. I don't think they're actually gay, but they do play it up for fun, and I've seen both pairs kiss, so they must do it on purpose.

I think you are mistaking Starksy and Hutch THE CHARACTERS with Paul and David who played the characters, bigbill.
I personally don't believe it was intended for the characters to be gay, but this vid is just a bit of fun and very well made too.
