Yes we sung this in my high school chior too, 30 years ago and I still remember my part...bass. One of my all time favorites...send s chills up my spine.
This song is so powerful! I remember sitting in the pew at midnight Christmas mass with a near empty church, cozy warm and satisfied as I listened to our choir take me to a better place....
All dolled up and no place to go (meaning..."Didn't the folks at this church publicize this thing?")
And a 67-voice choir at a junior college? That is *some* kind of impressive.
But anyway, one of the best renditions of this gem I've heard - of course it would've been great to have heard it in person. (Folks, he really *is* trying to get you to open your mouths).
Very nice performance. Pace is great and the blend very nice. Takes me back 30 years to when I sand this in church. Fine job.

I sang this in high school chorus. Brings back memories, and this choir sounds just lovely. I always have loved a cappella vocal harmony.

Would love to know how to get the arrangement for this piece. It is very moving. Any help would be appreciated

most hymnals have it. John Rutter also composed a version which is fantastic.

Lo, how a Rose e'er blooming from tender stem hath sprung!
Of Jesse's lineage coming, as men of old have sung.
It came, a floweret bright, amid the cold of winter,
When half spent was the night.
