  • Well, I can't prove CDarwin's Origin of Species or AEinstein's Theory of Relativity, general or special myself, but I go on about my life as if they are true. Blind forces of physics make as much sense to me as an "intelligent" director-- without the paranoiac thought of 24-hour eyes on me.

  • In a sense, I do have 24-hour eyes on me: my mind's eyes. If I can't live with myself anymore, where is there left to go?

  • Why don't you make some video's on the occultists that run this country? You are right there needs to be the seperation between church and state.Blame it on ."fake christianity which is the height of ignorance and hypocracy..People came here to escape Getting burned at the stake for their freedom of beliefs. That is personal and should remain so.Sunday blue laws= force they always have.Research the 1rst blue law 321 AD changing the sabbath to sunday & enforced by pain of death.

  • We have blue laws here. Until the majority collectively has had enough, they won't change. The rest of us just shop elsewhere on Sunday.

  • STRONG points there K. I wish more theists would see how some of THEIR beliefs infringe upon other people who may or may not be religious.

We should put something like that in the constitution that prevents congress from making legislation based on religious beliefs.............oh wait......

  • my dad owns a shop and he keeps it open 24/7 and he never once closed on a sunday

  • I am glad I subscribed to you, BionicDance.

  • Agreed to your overall point, just not sure about the week-end part.

I mean, not allowing shops to be open and so on, I dislike that (working during the week, shopping on week-ends would be ... logical).

But, we need some sort of way to separate the weeks, dont we? Sure, our calendar is artificial and we could have another one, but it works. And so, having 1-2 days that are dedicated to "resting" (saturday/sunday in our parts) is kind of necessary.

  • ahhhh i'm now a bit queasy. background too distracting. What did you say?

  • I have a A.D.D. can't... stop... looking... at... the... pretty... colors! nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

  • Inside-a-rotating-neon-cube Max Headroom-esque background. Cool.

  • Apparently here in Alabama "It is illegal to wear a fake moustache that causes laughter in church."

D'oh, there goes my Sunday plans.

  • good vid as always but plz dont use that background again :P

  • And yet the Sabbath is suppose to be on Fridays - not Sundays.

  • @TheHigherVoltage Actually Saturday. Sabbat in Aramaic, Hebrew & Arabic is Saturday...and considering that is the part of the world the fairy tales came from would it make sense to go by their languages LOL. So technically only the Jews follow the correct day of the Sabbath. Fridays is Muslim. The reason for it being Sunday is because of when jesus supposedly told his followers about the Jews "Do as they say not as they do" so to differentiate between the 2 they made it the day after.

  • I know the Sunday laws against buying boose at certain times is unamerican, but I kinda like the idea of keeping the sabath holy. Not in a real sense that I am going to start going back to Church and all that garbage. But I a time to reflect and a day where you are not working and have planned to spend time with family and friends after a busy week. We shouldn't force other people into doing this, but I kinda like it.

  • @aslowburnpdx1986

I hate to be a prick but what world are you living in? Sure office workers work m-f 9-5. But most people in the lower classes work on sunday just to get by on shit wages. Not by choice but by necessity.

Most don't have the option of reserving it as a day for family ;(

  • @lordtalon69 I very well know this. I am just saying that I like the idea of trying to find a day to spend with your family. I'm not trying to say that it is possible in every case.

You know it doesnt have to be a Sunday. It might only be that 4 hrs before the second shit at the factory. Or the fifth Wednesday in the months that start with Q. Pie in the sky dream for most.

  • Here in Kentucky we have blue laws. They are ridiculous. No alcohol is sold on sunday period. Here are the hours for my area:

9am [CVS pharmacy lol] 11am most liquor stores - midnight M-SAT

    No alcohol sunday.

However. I live 2 miles from ironton, OH and 12 miles from huntington, WV. And I can go buy beer in those states on Sunday. But get this ONLY BEER. Hard Liquor can't be sold. How the fuck does that make any sense? Beer but not Liquor.

So basically buy 2x the liqr in KY on saturday ;b.

  • For those who work 5 weekdays, you have 2 days left per week to shop for a car... BUT one of them (Sunday) is off-limits because of some bronze age superstitions of an angry deity who smites those who work on the sabbath. If you are Jewish, then you're busy on Saturday at synagogue, but can't but your car Sundays b/c it's someone ELSE's sabbath. If someone wants to NOT shop on their sabbath, fine. But if it's not MY sabbath day, why should I have to abide by rules of YOUR religion??

  • I was totally tripping on the background video...all the pretty, floating lines...

  • I will try, though I'm sure I've mentioned that I'm one of the few religious folks that don't bother people about it around here I guess.

  • Hypnotic background O.O

But I'm glad to be in MA since blue laws have dwindled to almost nothing. We can't sell alcohol before 12 on sundays still (What, still too soon after church to not make god angry? Gotta wait a couple hours?), but we can sell it at some point in the day. I could be wrong, but think used/new car lots here are only closed on sundays now because they want the day off.

  • That background is fantastically excellent!

  • I hate blue laws, stopping me from buying my mead and sake, wtf!

  • Thinking, eh? Good luck with getting them to do that.

Might as well ask them not to be homophobic bigots...

  • I suspect that blue laws were enacted because town councils contained many local Christian businessmen who didn't want their competitors who would have opened on Sunday to make a lot of extra money. But maybe I'm wrong and they just thought that everyone should show respect for God.

  • marijuana is the official drug of atheism didn't you get the memo

  • @Nibielari I'm allergic. Gives me horrible, railroad-spike headaches.

  • @BionicDance even if you eat it?

  • @Nibielari Yes.

  • @BionicDance Have you tried eating it?

  • @Mglosk Yes.

  • @BionicDance I'm allergic too. I break out in a huge throbbing... Wait, that's no allergic reaction. Too, the last little bit there... Jesus is not only the way, the truth, and the light, but also the YouTube download bandwidth bridge-troll. "No one gets to the upload, but through me," so saith the lord (I'm paraphrasing of course).

  • @Nibielari

    I didn't get the memo!

I always though the offical drug of atheism was pizza. :P

  • @GreatExterminator i think that is more of the internet atheist

  • @Nibielari

Oh man, I didn't get this memo either.

So, what different sorts of atheists are there?

Incidently, another drug of my choice; caffine!

  • I'm not a drinker and I'm a bit anti-alcohol but Blue Laws are unconstitutional.I'm surprised no one has fought for this yet.

  • I think I may have the 'tipsy gene' :- CYP2E1

  • Most of the blue laws in Maryland have been repealed, and the food and beverage industry was the prime mover. Restricting the availability of booze was more than the public could stand. I was a little kid, but I can remember when my parents always took booze with them when we went anywhere. Didn't want to run out, on a weekend.

  • Woot. Max Headroom background.

  • You are so cool and smart, thank you!!!!

  • "Booze makes you popular and heals all wounds!"

  • Do days of the week even exist @ Sector Control? I guess it depends which star you want to orbit? And if you orbit Alpha Centuri does that mean you have 2 Sundays every week?

    Max Headroom FTW.

  • WOah, i love your voice, it reminds me of my childhood when i watched pokemon, i wish you were my sister or something so you could read bedtime stories for me :)

    ill suib

  • The one thing I despise about Europe is that everything is closed on Sunday, its insane! We only get two days a week off work, and on one of those you're not allowed to buy anything! Whiskey. Foxtrot. Tango.

  • Nice!

  • How are we supposed to think Sector Control is bad when they offer booze 24/7

  • Yes, we need to appeal all sodomy laws. how 2 people do it is no business of the government.

  • Your background reminds me of Max Headroom. ^_^

Anyway, I remember when shops started opening on sundays. Mum still assumes that most things are closed on sundays. Although they do still tend to close earlier in most cases.

Also, the religious books don't wont there followers to think for themselves. They wont them to run on automatic. People who think for themselves have a nasty tendency to see through there BS.

  • @Disthron I made the background specifically to evoke Max Headroom. :)

  • Awesome background!

I live in a part of New Jersey that has Sunday blue laws. Sucks. I have to drive out of the county and into New York State if I need something on a Sunday other than food. :o(

  • Anti-theist? That implies that I'm against theists and it's not just religions with deities that I oppose. I'm anti-religion and I don't drink, smoke or use or abuse drugs. If I'm against believing in leprechauns, unicorns, yeti, santa, etc I'm not a labeled an evangelical anti-imaginationist. She beats her kids, he beats his wife, they blow up abortion clinics.... hey live and let live!

  • @GottliebBurckhardt

I think anti-theist means, "I don't believe in god and I think belief in God is bad for society."

That is how I feel. I wouldn't ban religion, but I don't think it should be taught to those who cannot use critical thinking. (children)

It is difficult to be against religion without also being against the religious. It is an extension of the premise.

Like saying, "Kicking people is mean", implies people who kick are mean, or at least acting mean.

  • @Morkindie Merriam Webster and Oxford define antitheist as: A disbeliever in the existence of God and direct opposition to organized religion or to the belief in any deity. The urban dictionary definitions are unintentionally funny.

Is it? I hate pop music yet I don't have any issues with people who enjoy it. Pop music is annoying but otherwise innocuous.

  • @GottliebBurckhardt

Some pop music is ok, but I wouldn't say that I am a fan. Are you saying that religion is just as harmless as religion? That seems pretty naive.

  • @Morkindie "It is difficult to be against religion without also being against the religious. It is an extension of the premise."

No, I'm saying I'm against pop music but not people who enjoy it because pop music is harmless while religion is bullshit, fuzzy thinking, blind faith, etc which are dangerous in the best of situations.

  • gahhh my eyes, never use that background

  • @qdragon1337 Not a "Max Headroom" fan, huh?

  • Thank you for the video just have to say that I agree. As I see it: Believe what you like but don't bush it down my trout. and never make laws that not are to protect everyone equal despite what they believe or who they are. Regards and have a skilful life. Pinge

  • here in TX we can't sell alcohol until noon and only at grocery stores

  • It looks like 1 teabagger watched your video.

  • Here in VA it is still illegal to have sex that is other than male-female vaginal.

  • Nice video.

See also "Why do Atheists Care About Religion."

    watch?v=w4fQA9mt-Mg

  • Religion makes me wanna become an evangelical-atheist. ...

*knock knock knock* (smile) Hello, I'd like to share with you the good news, there is no god, never has been and never will be. Here, read this leaflet and have a nice day. Good bye and may rationality be with you.

  • @fishypaw sounds like a great idea! Along time ago on youtube a scottish atheist actually flew from his own country to Utah to actually preach atheistiesm and knock on peoples doors to harrass them because he got tired of being woken up way too early on a sunday morning in his own country.

  • I read a story yesterday about a small town in a massive protest against the town officials. See there's this veterans memorial in the town's central park and it has a series of flags. An American flag, of course, probably the state flag and town flag, the veterans flag...and up to some time ago, a Christian flag. Yes, Christians have a fuck flag! Protestant Christians in this case. Anyway, the town's folk are up in a roar because the Christian flag on PUBLIC property had to be taken down.

    Sigh

  • Wonderful points made!

  • Love the Max Headroom backgrounds! Are you gonna suit up and start video-Stu-stu-stu-stu-stu-stuttering?

  • @mbutchin No.

But at one point I DID have a 3D character who looked like a female Max Headroom that I was considering using...

  • Colorado has two blue laws that I know of. You can't buy or sell a car on Sundays,{ so car dealers have to be closed} and no liquor sales on Sunday.

  • I thought the laws about not opening on a Sunday was more to do with not 'forcing' people to work and miss church. I have nothing to back that up though, just my guess. :)

  • D-d-d-dance Headroom!

  • Great video as always. Why can't they understand the not forcing rule?

  • @mylovelydame21

I guess we're past the South here in Florida lol. I guess we are under the bible belt, but considering the shape of Florida, I don't want to think about what that makes us. :-)

  • I know you hate (or maybe hate's too strong of a word, but you get my point) organized religion, but how you feel about people who just search for their spirituality without a holy book or anything of the sort?

  • @UpTheIrons1994 I respect people who go where the evidence takes them, rather than trying to reorganize the evidence in their head to fit their "spirituality"...or worse, just make shit up cuz it feels "good" or "right".

If they find some genuine magic in the world...great! Just make sure you can prove that it exists outside your own head....otherwise, how do you know you're not just makin' it up?

  • Maybe we need to send them to pre-school again so they can re-learn how to act.

  • Truefax.

  • @HappyCabbie You're showing your age lol. I wonder how many of us were even born when that was still on tv.

  • It's like that in Indiana. I said, "Hey, here's an idea. How about all y'all who are complaining just go buy extra booze on Saturday?"

    They reply, "Uh. Wha?"

The law continues to affect them.

I think the law is ridiculous.

They came up with a new law that will "combat drunk driving," which means they can no longer sell COLD beer where gasoline is sold. Because nobody will think to stop at the liquor store.

  • Blue laws are pretty silly. Around here it's no booze until noon on Sunday. It could be worse, but still, it seems like every time I go to buy alcohol it's either before noon on Sunday or before 6 on a weekday(another law, though that one is to cut down on drunken beer runs late at night).

Awesome background by the way. It's probably my favorite so far.

  • @polymath7 google blue laws. There are states where it's still illegal to sell cars on Sunday, and many places have different hours that they can buy alcohol on Sundays, than on other days.

  • Can I contribute to you getting a new mic? This one makes your voice ... shrink, and I want it distinct and piercing !!

It sounds compressed and lacks low end.

  • I wonder what day it was when Jesus turned water into wine. If it was Sunday, did he go ha ha, you can't drink that on Sundays, and you don't have any water left so you're going thirsty suckers!

  • Please don't use that background >_<

I'm a little woozy, but I'll be ok

AWESOME Video! when I'm 21 I'll have a White Russian on Sunday just for the lolz

    =^_^=

  • The city council here decided that people can't buy beer after midnight on Sunday, which is retarded because it's no longer even Sunday at that point. It just makes sure you have to buy your beer before Sunday ends, or go just outside city limits to buy it, which means lost business for the stores in town. I guess they're just pissy about not being able to force the rest of their beliefs on us, so they'll take what little they can get.

  • you just reminded me of the powerpuff girl episode about sharing and fuzzy lumpkins

  • yeah, when a believer tells me to stop posting on their forums I tell them I will stop when all the blue laws are gone and they stop posting on our forums.

  • G-G-G-G-G-G-Great video, as always always always HA! 8)

Its not like chistians obey the sabath anyway, What happend to it starting sundown friday? Where in the bible dose it say " ummm what say we go ahead and let thee have saturday back"

and what happend to being staoned just picking sticks on the sabath, people do a lot more than that just to get to chuch.

  • I see Palin has been sturring some shit these people never stop.

  • I happened to be drunk when i watched this video, i thought the half cube in the back was trippey. Keep up the good work.

  • Trippy background there!

Certainly one of the nicer Sector Control videos.

This is the first I've heard of these laws.

I think people just follow them because it allows them to have a day off of work.

  • the problem is the religious do not believe the world belongs to them, but believe its god world so we must follow gods rules. It just so happens that they also believe they have the one true religion(for the most part that is, wiccians don't for one) so they believe they have the ultimate authority backing them up, unfortunately they can not even prove this authority existence, let alone what his/her/its rules would be.

  • Not only do Blue laws violate the first amendment, observance of the sabbath on Sunday is not is not Biblically supported. Jesus was a Jew, so he observed the true sabbath which was sun down Friday to sun down on Saturday. Unconstitutional and un-Biblical, blue laws are a complete fail.

  • Nothing like living in the godless Denmark, where you can get booze at basically anytime of the day =)

  • Bionic Headroom :-)

  • Again, well said/done Keight ★★★★★

    Katalyzt

  • Yay fer booze!! *Burp*

Blue laws? Glad I'm Canadian. Hmm... Since U.S. courts say atheism is a religion, perhaps you could get away with opening a '24hr Atheist and Pastafarian Tavern and Temple'. Then make your own blue law.

I'm not ashamed, I'm proud to be an atheist. And I'm an antitheist too. Religion's had it's time. It does more harm than good, We need to grow up now. Many of the 'answers' of religions have been answered by science, and science has proven those answers to be wrong.

  • It seems Sector Control does deal with the recreational needs of its people by allowing them to get blasted. Once again a very good vid.

  • Wierd, Australia as a European colony is about 2 or 300 years younger than the U.S., we still have the currant head of the Anglican church on our coins and we certainly weren't founded by anti-religious Deists, and yet we got rid of the "don't work on Sunday" laws years ago.

  • Thumbs UP!

  • Those laws can "blue" me, i'm 21 now and i will drink if and when i freaking want.

  • We have these stupid laws as well. One of them we will take the piss out of this year: the law against public dancing on Good Friday. We're organizing a flashmob dance in our city's market square just for the occasion. Arrest me for dancing, bitches, I dare ya! ;-)

  • screw alcohol

  • Blue laws aren't only religious, but they almost always are. It's laws on opinion. Very VERY stupid.

  • Even if there was a god, he'd be like any other dictator. Atleast if you look at the bible, qur'an etc. And if he/she/it is the creator of the universe we can argue he/she/it is a mad scientist. Who worships those expect for the igors of the wold?

  • Max Headroom called, he wants his blue laws repealed

  • @HappyCabbie LOL.

  • Religion is unamerican :3

  • I've never really been to the south (Florida doesn't count), but I've heard of these Blue Laws and they just hurt my head.

  • Hmm. I don't know if I like Sector Control allowing alcohol. Gotta keep production up! Hangovers aren't good for that =P.

  • @sandform

However, keeping the population docile is. Giving them an intoxicant to keep them distracted is perfect.

  • Mmmmm Angel wings are good with garlic sauce.

  • There is a reason why the majority of creationists block me ^_^

  • maxine headroom.

  • Favourited!

  • Why the hell aren't you people in bed?! I get up to get a snack and here I am stuck on the computer commenting on another decent video. I agree with what you're saying, but if you consider that it is more expensive to drink at a bar, it actually boosts economic activity during football. And just think of the money collected by municipalities for the extra DWI's. (See, this is the kind of shit I come up with at 3 in the morning. Good night; )

  • Hah, first thing I thought when I saw the thumbnail was "Max Headroom"!

  • Greeeat vid as always Kate !!!

  • @Fisher663 Thanks! :)

  • Very well presented! In these hard economic times, blue laws are a detriment to our recovery. I'd even say they are "un-patriotic."

  • @Hereticbooks Indeed. I don't see why only the conservatives get to claim people are unAmerican; I've done it back to them in a few of my vids. :)

  • Retro looking & sounding... music that is! Sweet!

And what you're saying is so true.

  • @OVNIvisionVideos I was going for that "Max Headroom" look. *grin*

    Thanks for watching!

  • Hear! Hear!

  • @RHYMEMAIDEN1 Yeah! Blue laws are so STUPID.

  • @BionicDance You don't have to convince me. I've lived in the south most of my life.

  • @RHYMEMAIDEN1 I've always lived in the north, myself; furthest south I've ever resided was Santa Cruz, CA...which is most decidedly NOT "the South". Heh.

We're pretty liberal up here in Seattle, but there ARE some blue laws that occasionally bug the living dreg outta me, I must say.

  • @BionicDance I like Seattle very much, but I've only been there in summertime. I suspect the short, gray days of winter would wear on me. Gotta load up the pickup and head to DC. See ya!

  • @RHYMEMAIDEN1 They certainly wear on ME.

    Have fun in DC! :)

  • @BionicDance

How much research did you do? I was vaguely aware that many of these laws are still on the books, but how many are actually sill commonly enforced? (This isn't a pointed question; off the cuff I really have no idea.)

  • @polymath7 *still

  • @polymath7 Many are. I know several in Seattle are.

  • @BionicDance I am from Texas... It's amazing how many places are closed on Sunday, because they have to be :( Sucks for those of us who aren't Faith-heads. (that is my word of the day :D Made me happy!) Keep doing what you do Biotic! <3
