@rbermea Even then that show has conformed a bit. I was still hoping for a classic tone to it, but it looks like any other run of the mill show these days. Ah well. It still hasn't lost any of it's humor and I guess that's what counts.
@MegaMumbles Its the wrong kind of show for this period of time. It was a definite '90s show, and had that nostalgic '90s feel. Today is too different. While the show is the same as it was, it just isn't the right time for it.
@skuxolicious Exactly. In the 90's it was something that could be made fun of so much that it was a parody in of itself. But everyone loved it regardless. Now there's shows like Jersey Shore and Real Housewives, which is just pitiful. I love Beavis and Butthead mostly because it's so stupid it can't be taken seriously at all. But when there's TV with living people being just as dumb as a cartoon character, there's a serious issue. Maybe Beavis and Butthead will get better. Not too sure though.
This song is actually about how everything on MTV is so perfect, and everything seems to go right, and is not like realaity at all. And it seems to reflect on people in real life, who start acting like their life is being broadcasted on MTV, when its not.
im with 07plokoon it does sound alot like nirvanas shit, im guessing that was just a 90s sound though. and mick jagger was original because at a particular time wen the beatles ruled the pop rock scene for the past five years john lennon preached peace and love and mick jagger about to take his place with the stones urged a riot at an american embassy in london, a very controversial time then in the mid 60s.
@07plokoon what....that is the dumbest comparison i've ever heard? And anyway grunge was nothing more than a rip off of punk rock music.....name one thing nirvana did that was original. I men people worship that asshole so much it makes me sick. You want a hero listen to the dead kennedy's or black flag.....nirvana was just a pussy wipped version of those bands. Wanabes in my opinion.
@goodvibesallround Are you fucking serious? Grunge is not a rip off at all of punk rock music - It is a fusion genre which combines punk rock, alternative rock, and heavy metal. Do you really fucking think grunge also rips metal off? or also rips punk rock off? Damn it.... Arlight, let me tell you why nirvana is soo damn original: Bleach, Nevermind, and In Utero. Fucking great, unique, and completely different albums from that great band.
@goodvibesallround Cobain is a legend, becasue he easily created a new wave of music to new generations. The mission was to keep rock alive, and he fucking accomplished it, because the sound of his music is so damn great. You obviously can't compare beck to Nirvana because they are COMPLETELY different types of music. Sir, do your research, and clean your damn ears. Clearly there's something wrong. Black flag was great, Dead kennedys.. m, ok. The real hardcore band in my opinion is The Misfits.
@goodvibesallround Fucking think before you speak.. Alice in chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam - All great, and all grunge. Just in case it is still not clear to you, grunge involves more than just punk rock's aggression and message, it also combines metal's heaviness and a little of alternative rock.
@07plokoon Look kid i don't know how old you are. But I remember going to go and watch bands like the dead kennedy's and black flag back in the 80's and that sounded nothing like metal. It was a DIY music it was avant garde for its day and still is in many ways. I've seen nirvana live 91' Toronto Nevermind tour and I walked out before the last song. He was basically copying all the previous punk bands (both in music and style). It wasn't original and it sounded wussier than punk rock.
@07plokoon At least I got to see a lot of these bands in their heyday you little pussy. What the fuck do you have now...lady gaga. Sucks to be you man.
@goodvibesallround Wow man.. talk about being an ass.. First off, how does one thing have to do with another? Secondly, you are wrong. People of seattle do not hate grunge, I'm sure millions of soundgarden, pearl jam and alice in chains fans would agree. And Thirdly, don't talk shit about something you don't like just cause it is not your style. Goddamn it. BTW, I might not have hendrix or none of em, but at least I got great bands that still are today like foo fighters, metallica, megadeth..
@07plokoon Lol metallica hasn't had a good album since the black album...any true fan will tell you. Loaded albums where shit and so was st anger. Foo fighters I'll give you but megadeath suck ass!!!!Lol
@goodvibesallround WTF? You can't hate on megadeth... Megadeth's fucking great. And as Metallica being my fave band, let me tell you something.
You're the typical hater that hates what people like to call "new metallica". Guess what, punk, I really don't give a shit if you hate them or not. IMO, all their albums are great in their own way. End of story.
Dude, that is not stealing. That is incorporating. No one can STEAL headbanging, lol then ALLL and I say ALLL metal bands stole it from AC/DC.
@goodvibesallround and you're such a dick for saying that lady gaga shit.. pffft, nice joke, me liking commercial pop bullcrap. I'm a metalhead.. and there are plenty of bands out there that I can see. Such include lamb of god and of the old ones the big four of thrash and basically any other great band that still is. STFU bud. Nirvana, for me, is and will always be one of rocks greatest bands. Sucks to be you stuck in your close-minded punk rut.
@07plokoon Dude how can Nirvana be for you. When were you born? like in the fucking 90's......Looks like someones living in the past man. I just listen to stuff that I grew up with....
@07plokoon your just young and nieve about the music scene then, I grew up in it man trust me. But you seem to be into a alot of cool music anyways so good for you.
However Nirvana were not all they cacked up to be. Your just amazed by all the hype. The truth is music since the 80's and 90's was heavily controlled by record companies, thats why the music was better back in the 60's and 70's before corporate america got their teeth into. I like alternative rock.....i just can't stand the hype.
@goodvibesallround At the end of the day, I could care less about what nirvana fan's think, about what punk rock fans thing, and basically anybody. I could care less about kurt as a person. What I care about the most at the end of the day is the MUSIC. I thoroughly enjoy nirvana's music. There are certain songs I can relate to. I like how none of their 3 albums sound the same and how they are unique in their own ways.
@goodvibesallround if what you were trying to say all along is that you are not fond of grunge in general, that is totally ok and respectable. But god, don't talk shit.
@07plokoon I mean Cobain actually admitted copying bands like the pixies and the melvins (which are excellent bands) and that he was even surprised to have achieved that level of success. The only thing that i can credit him for is allowing those other bands to get more air play. And anyway try going to Seattle now days and mentioning grunge....you'll get your ass handed to you. People hate that term because it generalises a type of music. It's just alternative.
@goodvibesallround LOL? when did you hear me say that dead kennedys and black flag are metal? I wasn't talking about nirvana when I mentioned metal, I was talking about the genre of grunge itself. Dude, you are full of shit. Sure you went to those shows. Sure you saw nirvana. If you did see nirvana, you're an asshole for leaving. Yeah, they "ripped those bands off" What do you say about led zeppelin then? legendary band that ripped off other people to get dazed and confused+stairway to heaven...
@07plokoon Nirvana stole: 1. Hedbanging (Metal) 2. Stage Diving/Smashing guitars (Punk), 3. Gituar style (Punk & Metal). What about them was original? Even their sound was mediocre. Cobain was nothing more than i wanabe. Even other musican from other scenes hated him. Axel Rose (Rock), Metallica (Metal). Man hootie and the blowfish were more original Lol
@goodvibesallround Kurt Cobain was and never will be a wannabe. Kurt was himself. And you probably should have begun your argument by saying that you dislike nirvana (or in this case, kurt cobain) instead of grunge, since on another comment you said grunge was shit. What you described is not stealing. It's incorporating. And if a band incorporates all those elements than that makes them original, more original than a punk band with punk only elements and a metal band with metal only elements....
@goodvibesallround I sure as hell rather listen to the music from the past then the shit of my generation. Only good things from that are certain metal bands (I wont try mentioning them since you might have hard feelings for them, or simply dislike them) Nirvana's sound wasn't mediocre. Dave Grohl is a great drummer. Krist Novoselic was a skilled bassist. Now Kurt.. I'l admit he wasn't really a guitar god in any case.
And by the way, Axl Rose is the asshole of the music business, everyone knows
@goodvibesallround He is my friend. Listen to love buzz by nirvana. Lithium's got a cool bass riff to it, lounge act has a good bass riff, even heart shaped box does. I know. I am a bassplayer myself. He isn't as great as cliff burton was or as steve harris, but he is good.
@goodvibesallround It's ok if you don't like nirvana for whatever douchebaggy reason you have, but you shouldn't hate on grunge as a whole because there really is no reason to. What do you hate soundgarden for? AIC? Pearl Jam? STFU and GTFO.
@07plokoon I like (if you want to call it grunge music) i just hate how people worship people like KC. There were plenty of better bands that didn't get any airplay or as much exposure as nirvana did. That's what pissed me off back then and that's why i walked out. I saw the melvins in NY on their Houdini tour and that was soooo much better! you have no idea. My problem isn't grunge it's nirvana and its cult status.
@goodvibesallround And I have the right to chose what music I listen to. And if the music from the past is great and better than the one in the present, I'll damn right listen to the past. I am 15, but as you can see, I know about fucking music. It's cool and all that you saw em live, but you shouldn't judge kurt for being a rip off the way you did, or else everyone would be a rip off.
@linkking455 but we the people are the ones buying up what mtv and vevo, et al are offering. you can complain all you want but your paycheck still ends up in their pockets one way or another
master of masters.... if you didnt lived in the time... or were too old or too young... im sorry for you, thanks "god" for letting me live in the time of beck, kurt, alice in chains, blind melon... you pic.... sorry for the present people they have to pic in the bilboard from all preproduced products....
@rastmanvibes MTV, Muchmusic and commercial radios seriously makes me want to smoke crack. I'm from late 90's, early 00ies generation music-wise but I have the luck to have a music loving father and older brothers!
Rock, reggae, rap, electro, classic, even pop, they all have amazing artists and a lot of people are missing on big times because of the commercial music machine.
@rastmanvibes there will always be good music. do you really think that mankind suddenly became inept at creating musically. try looking for bands and artists that aren't on the billboard.
i don't think this was ripped at the right speed..maybe the record was warped or the turntable needed some lube, but this sounds really wobbly and off.
god, i fucking love this song... it has everything... Beck's sideways humor, his distinct vocals and those grunge-folk kinda chords... excellent song...
In case you haven't noticed, underneath that supergeek, down home, genuine,, quirky, self-depracating exterior lies the mammoth intellect of a unique and diabolically creative mind...what a fascinating musical journey he's been on, and still going strong.....
i spent 30k on crack, thanks MTV

master of masters.... if you didnt lived in the time... or were too old or too young... im sorry for you, thanks "god" for letting me live in the time of beck, kurt, alice in chains, blind melon... you pic.... sorry for the present people they have to pic in the bilboard from all preproduced products....
rastmanvibes 1 year ago
@rastmanvibes MTV, Muchmusic and commercial radios seriously makes me want to smoke crack. I'm from late 90's, early 00ies generation music-wise but I have the luck to have a music loving father and older brothers!
Rock, reggae, rap, electro, classic, even pop, they all have amazing artists and a lot of people are missing on big times because of the commercial music machine.
lordjpo 1 year ago
@rastmanvibes there will always be good music. do you really think that mankind suddenly became inept at creating musically. try looking for bands and artists that aren't on the billboard.

@rastmanvibes Im also thankful i grew up in Seattle during this time also.

@grvonny This has to be a remake of the original version. It sounds different. The original was an acoustic guitar/ lounge music sort of sound.
