If only people listened to music, go back as far as you can ad really listen to music. It started with people blatantly remaking songs, and because they didn't have all of the copyright days of today, then they could make money off of it. I make music and do not like to sample too much or listen to current music because I don't want to hear what is said here.
There is a song by Shalamar made well after a song by Teddy Pendergrass , but now-a-days it is more like a new spin on someone else idea.
ok ok so this is the way it goes -----> Ne-yo steals coldplays work, but coldplay stole it from joe satriani, BUT joe satriani stole it from an argentinian band named enanitos verdes! AAAANNNDDD they took it from a 70s song from cat sevens so i encourage YOU to open that garage band and make an ORIGINAL song with this music! go for it ill see u at court!
Polow da Don should be castrated for this ridiculous BS. I'm an aspiring producer and I make original music and for somebody, like him, to make Producer of the Year, BMI; He really ticks me off. F da Don.
yeah wtf this isn't a rip off at all, many artists use the same style of key progression as a catchy base to use their lyrics in. and they are both in different keys soo polow is stil a genius and neyo did a great job on this track.
FYI neyo only co-wrote the song..polow the don produced and co-wrote it aswell. Polow contributed the most on the song..but comparing these 2 songs is like comparing R.kellys ignition and akons dont matter song..
I can see the resemblance when they both hit the high note, and they have the same not progression up to the high note, but it wouldn't be enough for a law suit. The low notes after that are different and the. Good catch though, very liable thought.
its not he beats that sounds the same its the singing. and that wouldnt be polows fault it would be new kids on the block (or to the maker of this video its neyo, but it doesnt even sound like neyo so i dont know why he said that)
if you can't hear the melody coldplay and ne-yo call you consumer..lol..yea people its the same melody, beautiful sound why not use it 100 times...<----producer right here.
i don't even listen to Coldplay but I seen the ad for their album on television and heard the song, when I heard this song I automatically realized a similarity.
Yep I knew I had a feeling about polow the don copying off cold plays viva la vida for coldplay I sawthe future =P I know I wasn't the only one on youtube that knew this!
The 1st time I heard this song on the radio, I immediately realized it as a musically-deformed / worse plagiarized ver. of Viva La Vida - which is also rumored to be a plagiarized ver. of a lesser known song. Although in that case, VLV sounds a lot better than the original. Nevertheless, thanks for making this video so that I know I'm neither crazy nor alone in this matter.
Just one thing even if the melody is from the other song, polow only produced it, that means he made the beat Ne-Yo wrote the song. and one more thing almost every song is an idea of another.
Oh Thank God!!! PPl That Think Like Me! I Knew I Heard The Melody Before But I Couldnt Put My Finger On It...Then The Other Day I Woke Up And It Hit Me! Viva La Vida By Coldplay!!
I just saw the Video On Trial for the NKOTB song and I knew I had heard it before. They sound REALLY alike. If you check the Wiki site there's no connection between these two songs in plagiarism but some other song.
Mrah. I like Coldplay's better though. I've never really been a big fan of R&B.
The songs, as far as the rhythm that coldplay and neyo/NKOTB sing to, does sound alike. the beat sounds slightly different though. It doesn't really matter though because most of the time one artist took a beat/rhythm from another so it's nothing new. I like both songs regardless!!!!!
Cold play ripped off Viva la vida anyway, so what's the difference? too much ripping off these days. you don't even know what songs are originals these days.
Man dat shit dont sound nothing alike to me and again about love in this club, dat shit was a free sample so he ain had to say where the fuck got it but still at tha end of da day, dat nigga Polow Da Don is the best
FYI - Ne-Yo isn't singing the first verse you reference, it's Joey McIntyre. If you want to be taken seriously, make sure you know what you're talking about.

Actually you can.
People wanted Tom Petty to sue the Red Hot Chili Peppers because Dani California sounded somewhat like Last Dance with Mary Jane.

same chord progresssion and melody.
Very similar in structure.
and N2donnie: his error in saying neyo sang the first word instead of joey has no bearing in the validity of his argument.
supernoobtube 3 years ago
I THOUGHT THE EXACT SAME THING. I like both songs but I don't like the fact that single sounds like it was ripped from viva la vida

i see what youre saying about how the vocals are arranged....but the beat sounds nothing like it
and neyo is reponsible for writing the vocals, not polow, so he has nothing to do with whatever similarity you hear in it
Talli732 3 years ago
That's kind of what I'm saying. I know that neither Polow nor Ne-Yo sampled "Viva La Vida" but the singing style sounds pretty close.
Compare this to Akon's "Don't Matter" and R. Kelly's "Ignition". No sampling, but similar singing style.
