I always liked the sound of this tune. When I was 17 or 18 years old I loved playing drums to this tune. I think the album was called Plastic Ono Band.
I miss John Lennon. He was the real thing. No pretense, no phoniness and treated his fame like it was no big deal. This is my favorite of his. He was also the coolest looking rock star ever!
When did you realize, that what you were doing transcended…
Lennon: People like me are aware of their so-called genius at ten, eight, nine… I always wondered, “why has nobody discovered me?” In school, didn’t they see that I’m cleverer than anybody in this school? That the teachers are stupid, too? That all they had was information that I didn’t need.
Rolling Stone Interview - New York City on December 8th, 1970
Lennon: It was obvious to me. Why didn’t they put me in art school? Why didn’t they train me? Why would they keep forcing me to be a fuckin’ cowboy like the rest of them? I was different, I was always different. Why didn’t anybody notice me? The Rolling Stone Interview - New York City on December 8th, 1970
Lennon: I got fuckin’ lost in being at high school. I used to say to me auntie “You throw my fuckin’ poetry out, and you’ll regret it when I’m famous,” and she threw the bastard stuff out. I never forgave her for not treating me like a fuckin’ genius or whatever I was, when I was a child. The Rolling Stone Interview - New York City on December 8th, 1970
Lennon: The dream is over. It’s just the same, only I’m thirty, and a lot of people have got long hair. That’s what it is, man, nothing happened except that we grew up, we did our thing— just like they were telling us. You kids most of the so called “now generation” are getting a job. We’re a minority, you know, people like us always were, but maybe we are a slightly larger minority because of maybe something or other. The Rolling Stone Interview -

This song is 42 years old exactly today. And it's just as true. We all shine on!

Who's on drums please ?
alaixy060 2 weeks ago
@alaixy060 Alan White. Played in Yes and the Plastic Ono Band, but the sound you're diggin' is also attributed to the production by Phil Spector.

Do you think you’re a genius?
Lennon: Yes, if there is such a thing as one, I am one. When I was about 12,
I used to think I must be a genius, but nobody’s noticed. The Rolling Stone Interview: John Lennon. New York City on December 8th, 1970
