  • keeping the flame alive

  • Great performance of wonderful song. You sure made the tune the stand out, rather than lose it in technique and gimmicks and show biz fluff. Keep at it for sure!!

    And, thanks lots for posting

  • Lose the glasses while you're playing...

  • This is a great rendition of this song. I try to do it but I'm so much slower. You are real good sir. I do use you as my practice sesion.Thank you for this video.

  • That's awesome mate, good voice. Wish to f*** I could sing :(

  • Hi Hopper, Really enjoyed you San Antonio Rose. I did what your other fan did, I played bass to it. That's one of the great songs. Ken from Indiana

  • YOU LOOK LIKE A METHODIST PREACHER I USED TO KNOW, CEPT THE 23 GALLON HAT.

PS - ONE DAY TOMMY DUNCAN SHALL SHIT IN YOUR HAT!

    ROFL!

YOU DONE PRETTY GOOD LIL FELLER!

  • I.ve been using your video to practice my bass playing ....very helpful, my friend. Thank you very much. /Ben

  • @foneczar You're welcome and thank you.

  • you totally rock,i hope i get a chance to listen to more

  • hello buddy,

frankly speaking: when you perform feel the song and make your mind free from all the rest. You might take some more good singing lesson, and maybe leave the guitar matter to a professionist, but MAN, I'm just saying that because your voice is AMAZING !! Please mind it !!!

  • Excellent! Thanks for sharing Bob Willis with us. You are very good also.

  • @PhillipCreeper You're too kind.

  • great job. great song.

  • Cool!

  • Nice voice man!

  • @topsy420 I don't know about nice, but it's acceptable :)

  • das ist suuuuuuper 5*****.Gruß Manfred from Gernany

  • @shantymen1 Danke!

  • boooooo........boooooooo.....hissssss (throwing rotten veggies)

  • The chicken wire stopped the rotten veggies.

  • Hey man that Washburn back there, They don't have that guitar at any shops by my house and I just wanted to know like how big is it, as in the size ( like is it as big as those Gretsch/ Ibanez hollowbodys or more like a full size jazz boxes like an Epiphone Emperor Regent?) Thanks.

  • I've never had any of the guitars you've mentioned in my hands so I don't know how they compare. The best I can do is to tell you it's like playing a run of the mill acoustic guitar except it's only about three inches thick.

  • Damn fine cover

  • Thanks.

  • i grew up listening to bob wills and the texas playboys this is one of my most favorite songs, you truly did it justice.

  • Youv'e gottit down just right !!!!

    Bob Henderson SA CA

  • hopper1, you can make living singing.

what a brilliant version ! all the best from the UK here, keep going bro.

  • Thank you for the kind words. I don't know if I could make a living at this sort of thing. I'm a better mechanic than I am a musician ;)

  • I'd have you at our campfire any night. Thank you. Well done.

  • ah hah! nicely done

  • Thank you.

  • Wow, you've got a great voice. I'll check out your other stuff, as I love the beautiful timbre and tone. A lot of great singers don't have as fine a vocal instrument as you have. That's something you're either born with or you're not, and you have it.

  • Thanks for the kind words. It's not a great voice, it's great processing ;)

  • No, you're too modest. I can hear the processing, but you've got the real thing. Too bad you don't like classical. With the right training and desire, you could have been an opera singer. On the other hand, Bob Wills is perfect for you, and there's nothing I know more fun or more heartfelt or beloved than Bob Wills' music.

  • Yeah, classical is something that I just can't wrap my ears around. Same thing for opera.

  • Wow, that goes back a day or two, I saw where Ivoryticklermama had rated this one and had to come see. Great sounding guitar. Thanks for sharing, I subscribed will be back later to check out more.

  • Thank you, Roy.

  • HOPPER,~~~~~I enjoyed that very much...Thank ya, Thank ya very much for posting this.. Sending you a big ole smile!

  • Love this song...my Dad's fav...we had the pianist play it as his casket was wheeled to the front of the church....everyone perked up..Dad would have been so pleased!

    I enjoyed your rendition...

  • Glad you liked my version. Thanks for the comment :)

  • Woow, wonderful! i love it ;)

  • Glad you like it. Thanks for the compliment :)

  • great. u have a nice speaking voice. try and sing within ur vocal range and go on the road, man.:)

  • Nah, I can't do that. Stage fright ya know ;) Singing to a camera is a lot easier than singing to a roomful of people. Thanks for the comment.

  • hopper1,

I won't even guess where you are from ...So where are you from? And is this the only song you have on Utube?...TR

  • I'm from the upper mid-west. I have more songs here on YouTube. Just click my name on this comment and it will take you directly to my channel.

  • Hopper1,

Thanks, the SAR has always been a hard one for me. I am only now working on the melody. It has a lot of chord changes and the original key would be very hard for me to play. I do the melody in G. I went through all of your song and noted your chords. Hey, you must not be from Tx? Don't sound like it anyway. Utube is a great guitar lesson and I have only been playing for over 50 yrs. I will probably put SAR in my book and do the melody and lead at our next musical..thanks..TR

  • Thanks for the comment. You're correct, I'm not from Texax. I agree that YouTube is an excellent place for learning.

  • Cool!!!

  • i am a life long bob wills fan, you did a great job Aaaaaaahhhhaaaaa!!!!!!

  • Thank you very much :)

  • Goood job man! I've been wantin' to play this one myself..I can do "right or wrong" but...the chords i found for this seems too complicated....yours seem easy enough...couldnt send me them could you?

    -Michael

  • verse is G C A7 D, chorus is A7 D and D7, all open chords. Thank you for the comment.

  • Well done. I play a little six-string myself, but I've not got the nerve to play in front of the whole (cyber)world yet!

  • Believe me,it's a lot easier to play to a camera than it is people. Thanks for the comment.

  • Thanks so much for keeping this kind of music alive. I've played this song for many years. I like your one man show. Ken from Indiana

  • Thanks for the comment. It's a one man show out of necessity ;)

  • I'm not a big fan of western swing, but I thoroughly enjoyed this. Your voice fits the style well. Keep it up!

  • Thank you.

  • Hello there, yup I like your rendition of this song. Very good job, keep the music comin'. Ps i first heard this song in the mid sixties. iwas about 6 yrs old. thankyou very much!!

  • Thank you for the kind comment.

  • I loved Bob Wills many years ago Thank for posting.

  • You're welcome, and thanks for the comment.

  • I really liked that. Thanks!

  • Thanks :)

  • Not too bad

  • Thank you.

  • Thanks hopper1... I liked it- would you be able to post Patsy Cline's version? Will really appreciate it.

  • Patsy Cline, eh? I'll give her version a listen and see if I can pull it off. Thanks for the comment.

  • Where's the tip jar? :) Not what I had expected from you, but nothing ever is. Good job, hopper. I enjoyed that.

  • Thanks for the comment, I'll pass the Stetson around later ;) Glad you liked it.
