  • The tubes fall out of the ear on their own after some time.

Their purpose is NOT to allow fluid to drain out of the ear, but to allow air to enter it (as the eustachian tube is blocked) in order to equalize the air pressure inside the ear and out.

  • I've got tubes in my drums yesterday, I'll now have to get those replaced every year. and those needles in my drums hurt like SHIT!

  • ouch

  • i just realised i've had this operation done when i was a kid. the doctor gave me the tubes (grommets) and i didnt know what they were from. now i do lol. i was complaining about noises like 'steam engines' while i was trying to sleep. its only now i figured it was my heartbeat through my ear... fail. but it fixed it lol

  • how long do you keep them in for once you get them

  • @lazyinaz91 depends on how long it takes for them to fall out

  • I have to get this done soon and I'm sacred if it'll hurt, I won't be put to sleep, unless they have a local aethetic.

  • dont worry it isnt that bad i had it when i was 8 and i won an award for being so brave at the hospital :) lol

  • How does ventilation help to cure the infection? I am just curious.

  • It removes the fluid that has built up behind the ear drum that is causing the infection..

  • What happens next? Do you keep the tube in your ear for the rest of your life or do they remove it. I can't imagine having a hole in your eardrum is good for you?? I guess the tubes there to let stuff out but then whats stopping stuff going in???

  • i think it falls out after a while, i'm pretty sure.

  • Where is the suction!!!

  • i had this treatment done 6 months ago on my right ear..now i have no pain and can hear perfectly..and im 42 years old

  • Myt doctor refused to do this. She told me "You're not a child so there really is no need for me to put tubes in your ears. the infection will get better on it's own." I wish that she had done this. It seems I'm always getting ear infections.. maybe this would help.

  • o kteh starting i thought i was eyes that were closed

  • so after they put this in ur ear u can still hear normally and does blood keep on coming out

  • after the surgery,can u hear againg or u get deaf? :|

  • You Hear better than A dog for the rest of the day then It goes back to normal

  • no you can hear alot better but other wize that kinda it i have one :)

  • on the beggining of this vid i think that was eye!

  • i had this done when i was a baby

  • dude your supossed to DRAIN the ear first after the cut and then put the tube in after the drainage.

  • im getting mine in august.........yikes! will i feel it

  • um u shouldn't because they put u to sleep

  • i am goin to fucking barf

  • I've had this surgery twice on both ears, once when I was two and again when I was four. When I was six I had to have one of the tubes surgically removed.

So now I know what was going on while I was asleep! Interesting!

  • Um. I thought you were to remove any wax then do the incision. And then take the drainage out

  • so if u keep on getting ear infection wnt it lead to cholesteatoma? y nt just have operation for it i seen tubes like this for the first time

  • you get an ear tube in most cases when you have a middle ear infection (when you have a fluid build up behind your eardrum) and yes you might have had it done when you were 17 some adults even have had this done. but it is more common in children. i myself have had it done 5 times then another time to have them surgically removed because they got stuck for 10 years. the tube is supposed to release the fluid in they ear transmitbatch

  • it's to correct chronic fluid buildup.

and it's not done in children. i had it done for the 3rd time when i was 17.

  • and that's supposed to say, "it's not done JUST in children"

  • wats the tube suppossed to do??? and y do u need it in the first place???

  • omg omg omg they CUT IT???? O_O

and then they put a tube in it?

Why do they do that? My ear infection never needed a tube..

  • 2SoulBlazerGirl05
