If there is a Closer I could ever compare to Kobe Bryant it would be Mariano Rivera! Let's not forget, Kobe Bryant is the NBA's Best Closer! Just like Mariano Rivera is Major League Baseball's Best Closer!
@edrios19 I highly agree! Mariano Rivera is Baseball's Best Closer! But when the time comes for Mariano to pass Trevor Hoffman for Lifetime Saves, then he will be "The Ultimate Closer"!
Trevor Hoffman may currently have Baseball's Record for Career Saves, but he'll never have Mariano Rivera's 5 World Series Rings!
I don't believe he will pass Hoffman especially since Hoffman is still pitching. But only Hoffman and Rivera have over 500 saves and even Hoffman has said that Mariano is better then him
@7Rayo13 That's cool. But the last I heard, Trevor Hoffman has been taken out of Milwaukee's role as a Closer. If I am not mistaken, he has been put into Middle Relief. Whereas Mariano is still closing Games with the Yankees. Mariano close both games the Yankees won against the Dodgers this past weekend at Dodger Stadium.
Like I said before, Mariano Rivera is the only Closer in Baseball I would compare to Kobe Bryant, The NBA's Best Closer!
Don't get me wrong I feel the same way. Mo is the best clutch pitcher of all time. that being said I retract my previous statement, you are correct Hoffman is pitching middle relief for Milwaukee, at present time Hoffman has 596 saves to Mariano's 543, which definently puts him within reach barring injury or the Yankees not needing a closer for the next two years (not likely). I hope he does it cause that would be the icing on the cake
@7Rayo13 And I want to see Mariano surpass Trevor Hoffman's current record for Overall Saves. My opinion, the fact that he has been put on Middle Relief by Milwaukee should give Trevor Hoffman a thought that he should retire. And the way that Mariano is going, I could see Mariano surpass Trevor Hoffman for Overall Saves. Forget injury, we also have to consider if and when Mariano starts to lose his ability to perform. Who knows, "Mo" may lose it sometime from now to when he reaches 600.
very true, but it seems that every time people start to think that Mo is starting to reach the end he just proves us all wrong. I mean he will have his rough stretches and then just adjust and everything falls back into place, with the same pitch that everyone knows it's coming. I believe it's his mindset that allows him to be sucessful year after year. He lets nothing cloud his focus, he doesn't argue with umps or let success go to his head. He just knows how to win.
@7Rayo13 I highly agree. And that's the kind of mindset an Athlete needs to maintain in order to be as sucessful as "Mo" has. There always Yankee Haters everywhere(Especially in Boston) making it public that Mo has lost it, especially after that crucial Blown Save in Game 4 of the 2004 ALCS. But 6 years later, Mo has kept his ability at an even keel, whereas someone with less Self-Esteem would have retired maybe 3 years later.
was he doing domingo ayala stretch at 00:10
