Thanks. I just bought a new DPMS and have no idea of what I need to clean it with and how. I know urs is a Bushmaster. But this video is VERY HELPFULL
just imagine yourself cleaning your rifle in mosquito infested jungle during the monsoon raining season. that's the fuckin reason why they fuckin lost vietnam war.
thanks dude video really help. I got 1 quest does these instructions work with the Ruger SR-556. Also great video the quality could have been a little better but overall great job
im not very familiar with the ruger but if i understand it, the main difference is it uses a piston system, so everything in this video should still apply to the sr-556
this may sound stupid but im getting my firt rifle and i already have a 22, would a 22 cleaning brush work with a .223 or 5.56 like most every AR-15s are? thanks
thats not a stupid question, im not 100% sure of the answer but i believe that a .22lr bore brush will work. i have a brush that was labeled .223, but as i said i think a .22 will work
It will work. I've owned my AR for over 10 years, .22 brushes work fine.
(Note, 5.56 NATO is specific to ammunition. It's a higher pressure load. The short answer is, do not load 5.56 ammo in your .223 varmint rifle. The AR-15 is capable of both .223 and NATO spec. That's all that means)
When we had to return our rifles to the armory, they had to be spotless. You could wear a white glove and run your finger inside the upper receiver through the ejection port and there wouldn't be a spot on it.
I hope you clean the upper receiver where the bolt carrier group slides in, especially where the gas tube hooks up. Also, I'm with the guy below me. Use CLP, its standard issue in the Corps. CLP does three things. It contains solvents to dissolve firing residue and carbon, it lays down a layer of teflon as it dries to lubricate, and it prevents rust from forming.
lol dude dont be so sloppy with the ckeaner that shit givers u mad cancer. and clean it every time u finish firing it or it will start jamming and even rusting.
quetip. but u know what the best thing to do is? for the lugs? as well as the lower erceiver and the rest of the upper is just fuckin hose it down. cuz the lube we use in the army also prevents it from rust so if the shit u use does to just do that. take a hose to the fucker and CLP the shit out of it. and it will work SOO fucking well after
I shoot at the CMP national games at Camp Perry OH. And in a normal rifle match I shoot offhand (standing) slow fire at 200yrds, sitting rapid fire at 200yrds, prone (laying down) rapid fire at 300yrds, and prone slow fire at 600yrds. Although I have never personally shot from 1,000yrds I know a few guys who do shoot .223 ARs back at 1000.
The rifle is more accurate than I am, it has the ability to shoot 2-3in groups at 600yrds, although with my skill I am happy to shoot 5-6in groups
Another thing to check would be your gas gaskets on the bolt. After you get the bolt all back together pull the bolt ejector all the way out and stand it on it's end. If the bolt ejector goes back in then the gas gaskets need to be replaced. If it doesn't then the gaskets are OK. Of course if the gaskets are worn then they will not hold the weight and the extractor will be forced back into the carrier. This function will allow you to see if you need to replace the gas gaskets.
Good vid. I have a Colt AR15 .223 barrel and I have the 5.56 and 7.62 barrels. I have found that instead of using oil on the moving parts (that get hot) I use wheel bearing grease (just a tad) because it will stay when the weapon gets hot. Only put a small dab on the parts that rub together. Do you know how to change barrels on the AR15? Never had to chng barrels only maintenance stuff. If you know how to change the barrels could you post a vid on that also? Semper Fi and thanks.
thanks for the advice, I have heard of people using grease for lube but I bought a bunch of oil in bulk and I figure I have enough to last me about 2 more years
Sorry, i have never replaced a barrel so I can't help you there. I hope you figure it out. SF
Thanks for making this clip. I'll be cleaning my Stag 15 today for the first time,so its good to watch someone take apart an AR15 and clean it.Even if your camera did run out of memory, you did a good job.
I do not own an armalite, but I believe the dis assembly is the same; there could be some minor differences that I don't know about. i hope this video helps
I think he was making reference to when you said. " There is a male and a female adapter. I can't find the female adapter..." @ 0:42-0:53 of your video.
Hey, I had a question for you guys -- I can't seem to take apart the barrel to the point where I can re-align the cooling device surrounding it. How would I go about doing this? Thanks in advance, and the videos helped a lot!
i got a S&W for 800 but seen them anywhere from there to 1400...they have a website with a dealer locator I would get on there and call em all..how u like the ak?
your basic ARs can be had for a bit under 600 if you know what you're looking for. Your next steps up run about 750-900. Then from there you have your more popular brands (Colt, Stag, LMT, Nov) that run about 1000-1200+
Thanks for the demo. There's alot of ways to put your sling on wrong. Would you show us how to put it on right. And show us the proper use of the sling in the standing and sitting positions?
You are correct that there are a lot of ways to put a sling on wrong and there are a few correct ways, mine is actually set up differently from almost everyone I know, but it works best for me. Where I shoot competitions the rules state that you must have a sling on the rifle at all times although it is not used in standing. I didn't think about making a video on how to use a sling but that is a good idea, I will try to put a video out in a short while.
do you then run a clean patch before you shoot or does it not matter.. also do you do the 3 consecutive days of cleaning thing? seems like overkill to clean it three days in a row without shooting to me.
i have read you should always leave something in the bore to protect it.. to "keep corrosive evils at bay". Guy from Sinclair Intl. wrote you should run a patch of a very light oil like Kroil or Hoppes through when your done.. is this advisable?
My high-power coach told me it was a good idea to do this, but my buddy says it is unnecessary. I trust my coach more than my friend so I run a patch through the bore with some lube on it when I am done cleaning the rifle (hoppes works the best)
Thanks much! It's the little things that confuse me, like trying to put the bolt crosspin in when the extractor is on the wrong side. A quick review of this, and I cleaned my AR in record time yesterday!
Excellent video. You may have saved my life. lol. I was attempting to put the bolt in backwards. After half an hour of wrestling with it, I said I'll check the net and found this video. Thanks again man.
