i have had my water dragon about a month now and hes about 14 inches and a couple months old because he sometimes puffs up his throat and waves and head bobs does this mean hes a male and showing terratorial behaviour oh and another thing the viv hes in at the moment is 3 foot high 2 foot long and 15 inches deep i was just wondering if i have a 4x4x2 viv whats the best way to keep it heated and how the lizard will get the uv benefit as they only affect the lizard within 12 inches?thanks
The primary structure only took a day, but i had to sand about 4mm off of one of the runners which took 2/3 days, then setting everything up fully took about a day, then I played about with it for nearly 3 years and eventually took everything out and started again(in this video), which took a day. ;) thanks!
haha, I am used to the crickets and such now, they do escape every now and again, through the top right corner primarily, i usually just catch them and kill them in case they have coem in contact with household chemicals during their freedom... thanks & sorry to hear about your WD :)
Are your water dragons aggressive because when I have a look at some at a local breeder i got tagged by one and I'm just curious to know if they are normally like this.
Nah I mean, they don't appreciate being handled too much and will try to run away, can get you pretty scratched up, but that's not aggression, that's just them trying to escape. only been bitten when I was examining them for mouth rot...
Looks spicy =D Drake would love all of those logs. I should "shop" outside for some BUT I live in the city sooo... I might get arrested chopping down tree branches lol.
I live in the city, just gotts go to the city outskirts or ask your parks dept. if you can have a look at their branches they have at their depot, might find a few good ones there.
Good idea! I can drive about 45 minutes to the country. I can fish and tree hunt all at the same time! =D
Oh guess what! My savannah monitor, Parker, jumped into the heating vent system that I have. I didnt think he could fit himself in there! He did it yesterday, the day I got him, I was able to locate him, break the wall, and pull him out! He is really little.. It was SO scary! But not he is back so look for vids of him =D TTYL
well, it's not too bad actually, you can spray it with water and get faecal matter off, regular spot cleaning of the substrate means that it can go a long time (1-2 years) between being completely gutted out and cleaned - they poop in their water too mainly so it all stays pretty clean.
You are right though, pulling it all out then putting it all back in is a BITCH haha
@ErikPaterson great idea! im looking for a better substrate for my frilled dragon and their setups are very similar to CWDs i never thought about mixing the eco earth with soil...thanks alot! cheers!
Thanks! Aye, maybe sand and soil mixed, would be more similar to the frillies natural enviroment and the sand will help keep the soil 'in place'? dunno though, cheers :)
the eco earth is what i use now, i like it except it dries out too fast...i was thinking the soil would help since it stays moist longer and doesnt mold
Nice but Is that wood sealed

I had a water dragon who used to run over to me , up my leg and sit on my shoulder. He'd sit and watch telly with me. Very friendly, and affectionate.
I had to give him to someone, though. I couldn't deal with his 'food' hopping all over the place escaping into my house. Yuck.
P.S. My viv was nowhere near as good as this one. I wonder how the Vid-maker deals with insects escaping the tank ?

Ailurus27 2 years ago
@Ailurus27 cheers mate! Aye, most of it is collected from outside and boiled water poured over it to kill the moss and bugs etc.
