These are cute friendly animals. I have two of them as pets. They come up and eat out of my hand feed. Never try and hurt you. Its pretty bullshit that people are still allowed to kill them based on "hur but I dun eated dem fur ages"

According to the DOC website "The longfin eel is one of the largest eels in the world and is found only in the rivers and lakes of New Zealand. Longfin eels are considered At risk, declining. "

Oh but lets keep eating them anyway, Didnt do any harm to the Moa!

@stonescorpio It's actualy supposed to be the other way. Take the big ones that are doomed to be killed or die soon and not to mention to have lived a long life. Keeping the ones that still have much to live and yet years to mate to come.

And I'm pretty sure they only enter the sea twice, when they're born and when they die, so no more years of mating for these eels.
