@ roadog1m most officers dont carry 1911's anymore because when they did. the officers kept them at full cock with the safety on. Well, that is not a problem to most people that know how a 1911 works. But for the people that didn't, they thought the officers were walking around with unsafe handguns that could go off at any minute. Therefore, the agencies started regulating alternative types of firearms that would not alert the citizens or public to make them think officers were being unsafe.
@ethanw08 But what most people don't know is that the Glock they are carrying now has NO safety at all. Far more dangerous. I know most trigger happy cops claim "it is impossible to accidentally discharge a Glock" but I own one and can tell you, although I have never done it, it is easy to misfire one. I also have a 1911, a few revolvers and some other cheap clip fed guns. To me the safest gun to carry is a revolver.
Nice Shooting, about to take some video with my glasses at the range, I wish I had active targets to shoot at like that, will be boring paper targets for me. After seeing that I want to practice with my 1911 today.
I hope everyone here really gets the purpose of this. This is FREAKING sweet considering it was recorded through protective eyewear. I clicked on the link, not bad for the price. Nicely done...
If the 1911 platform is soooo easy, why don't more law enforcement agencies allow officers to carry them? FBI only allows HRT and Firearm Instructors to carry 1911 pistols. Just so ya know.
@roaddog1m low magazine capacity, recoil, manuel of arms. (forgeting to sweep the safety will wind up with a dead officer) and I would also say expense. You can pickup almost any glock with a set of night sights for less than 600. For a 1911 with a good rep you''re looking at almost 2x the cost. So 2x the cost 1/2 the mag cap and you still have not dealt with increased cost of ammo for training or increased round count to train to standard.
I own a 1911 and love it but I am objective about it
Impressive

Colt Government style Single actions are the easiest to shoot, that would be much more difficult with a DA semi or a revolver.
