I had the same problem with a GO730. After opening the unit I checked the on/off switch was secure on the PCB. My GPS had 3 of the 4 pins not making a good solder contact at all.
I resoldered the switch and the GPS was back in operation. If you have to go inside any electronic unit, GPS/phone/camera remember to touch your fingers on a good earth or wear a wrist strap bonding lead to discharge any static electricity.
its a soft ware problem i had the same problem i talked to tom tom and thay told me to download the the os just coppy the maps and save them to your pc and thn put them back
i had the same issue after plugging into a mac. so if you are using a mac i found out you have to change some spotlight settings around in system preferences.
I called customer service and talked to a rep. They couldn't solve the problem so they told me to fax my receipt and they would send me a new one as it is still under warranty. I faxed it and then received an e-mail the next day saying the "incident is now closed." I will call tomorrow to see what is going on. For now I am stuck with a defective TomTom! =P
not sure if you got it fixed but looks like a map problem, did you back it up? goto tomtom home, support
