Are you using windows Vista or Windows 7? If you are you need to choose... Organize/folder and search options/then view/ then uncheck "hide extension of known file types" hit apply and then Ok. Hope that helped.
like a couple others asked when i am ready to convert and i right click it there is no convert to aac. i can skip this step and get my song to another page and change it from m4a to m4r and then when i drag and drop it wont add it to the ringtone list. what do i do now? thanks for your help
@MonsterFord1959 this is answered in the video at 0:40sec-1:15. if your is set to anything else make sure to change it to AAC Encoder then save. Then after you get the part of the song you want and right click on the song you Will see "create AAC version". hope this helps

thank you very much. this was really useful esp the part about the folder option and changing the visibility of extension. i always got stuck there. but no more!!!
Good vid, but i have a question... When i click on 'create AAC version', the converter shows up on the left for about 1 second before disappearing and no clipped version of the song i want appears underneath the original song. Any idea why my converter wouldn't be working? Or is the clipped version hidden somewhere? Cheers.
I have been tying for about 2 weeks watching all the other videos, with no success, Thankyou so much for this one!!! FABULOUS!!!! So clear instructions!
I've been struggling for hours to work out why I couldn't rename the file to m4r. Thanks to you mate i've now managed it . Outta all the tutorials I viewed this was the only one which was explained in full!!! True Legend CHEERS!!!!!!!!!
Well...I was SO HAPPY that finally here was something I could do that actually WORKED!!! Thanks for that SO MUCH. However, after synching my iphone (lst generation), the ringtones did not appear there. They ARE listed on my ringtones on Itunes. Can you help?
ahhh man thnx a million... itunes8 was easy but 9 was messing w/me. No 3rd party apps no BS, just an extra, but simple prefs update. U saved me sooo much time. U rock!!
I realized that I was changing the file name on the song not the clip I had created. Now it works, lol. Thanks for responding and for the great video.

I followed everything on this vid and it all worked fine, until the part where u have to drag and drop from windows explorer into ringones.
The little plus sign shows up under the pointer, but when i release the left mouse button, nothing happens.
