So 5% of priests have been convicted of pedophilia crimes but what hasn't been disclosed yet are the remaining 95% who are either pedophiles themselves or cultist. I don't get the whole vow of abstinence thing within the Catholic religion. No where in the Bible does it say thou shalt not engage in mutual consenting sex if thou art to represent God. In essence what they are doing is denying a basic human need just like eating or breathing.

Equivocally first thing the Catholic Church does not forbid married priests it never has. There are married catholic priests. It is just not the discipline of the Western (Latin Rite) to have married clergy. In the Eastern Church priests are married This is a tradition that has continued since the apostles. Matthew 19:10-12 1, 1 Corinthians 7 also mentions the concept of celibacy.

I don't get the whole vow of abstinence thing within the Catholic religion. No where in the Bible does it say thou shalt not engage in mutual consenting sex if thou art to represent God. In essence what they are doing is denying a basic human need just like eating or breathing.
Reform the church's stance on human relationships within the church and this problem will all but go away, forever.

Equivocally first thing the Catholic Church does not forbid married priests it never has. There are married catholic priests. It is just not the discipline of the Western (Latin Rite) to have married clergy. In the Eastern Church priests are married This is a tradition that has continued since the apostles. Matthew 19:10-12 1, 1 Corinthians 7 also mentions the concept of celibacy.

In regards to the comment reforming the Church I presume you mean doing away with the practice of celibacy First point I want to make is it is not celibate priests who abused children. Secondly most priests have lived out their celibacy with the grace of God. @somcmedia ; You know, I never thought of molestation among the priesthood with young boys as pedophilia (though you are right, that is exactly what it is) however; I thought of it more as is the case among long term prisoners who engage in same-sex sex simply because conventional male/female sex is not afforded. A dominate male will molest a weaker male or in the case of the Church, a Priest will molest a young boy.

One of the freakiest things I have seen on TV is the day Pope Benedict was elected. It is purely subjective on my part. But the video that showed his back as he walked to the porch to speak to people was very eerie to me. It had a very satanic, anti-christ feel to me.
