  • Who painted the block for ya

  • Oh, forgot to add, on a stock"ish" pickup I normally kick it the timing up a bit to 15-16*. Helps bump the power a little and lower EGTs.

  • What crankshaft degree does that timing method set it to? I have always used the actual timing tool set for these motors. It's fairly simple to use, it just measures plunger lift on the pump. The kit I have came from Snap On, part # SP500.

  • Awsome video. Is 122 ft lbs the factory tq specification for the injection pump gear? I was just wondering because I read that the factory specifcation isn't tight enough so the pump can slip out of time after awhile.

  • @cameron947 122 is the spec but I do TQ to 130 ft Lbs.

  • @TheDieselStop Thanks for the reply.

  • i just rebuilt this engine in my heavy duty diesel course, great detailed video

  • awesome video learnt alot in these series..thanks 4 the videos

  • Question ? Would it be worth having the Injection pump shaft sloted since theres already a slot in the out put shaft ? I'm a novice with Diesel engines !

  • @ruwithlee1970 Well here is the deal on the P-Pump.... It can not be keyed to the gear because that is how you advance the timing on that injection pump.

  • great video man.

  • @86camaroboy Thank you.

  • This is a great method of lining up timing. Ha i wish it was that easy on a 7.3idi. You get it close then you have to use one of those luminosity meters, or pulse meter. Dang stanadyne db2 injection pump.

  • @SwampBogger Thank you I am gald you enjoy the channel.

  • nice work Wayne!

  • @edzgarage Thank you Ed. How have you and the family been?

  • @TheDieselStop We have been well, thanks for asking. It's been a hot summer here and we are loving it! I hope all is well with you and your family.

  • Seems to be a utube glitch in video view counts, lots of new videos on lots of channels freeze counts around 300, not sure whats up.

  • how much for the crew cab

  • @1977chevyk20 Its rusted out.

  • @1977chevyk20 Its rusted out.

  • Looks like you got a great build goin on right now. It's nice to get al the tips on aligning the injection pump. I have a 24 valve cummins now. but I used to have a 94 and I always wanted to put a 215 hp pump on it but couldn't ever find 100% of the info on how to get everything lined back up. Keep up the good work.

  • @rodeoman44 I like to hear that I help someone. I will be p-pumping my 24 valve here before long. Keep watching for that. To p-pump the 24 valve you will need a 12 valve front cover & gear. You will have to buy new injection lines though but they are only around 500 or so. The P-7100 will cost the most out of everything.

  • the motor looks nice all painted up

  • @jonp1116 Thank you.

  • Nice video series!

  • TDC = Top Dead Center, not top dead cylinder.

Sorry, but that was bugging me lol

  • Keep up the great work. Thumbs up

  • @Gasser4x4 Thank you.

  • Great Cummins knowledge.... my hat is off to you.

  • @yourbeekeeper Thanks buddy.

  • Hey Wayne what is the purpose for that tool located on the back of the IP after you've done your top dead alignment?

  • @Catahoula21 Nothing but I see people chew the hell out of them. Then you get wickers that could go in the oil. Thats why I said dont scar it up.

  • they should of just called it the 18 pound motor, over half of the bolts so far, thats just weird

  • @tylerwhitt16 LOL Ya but I like it because it is easy that way.

  • Good stuff man, wishing I would have done this to my motor, but still is running good so can't complain. If you don't mind me asking, how much do you have wrapped up in the rebuilding?

  • @CumminsChevy85 With a new holset turbo and intercooler around the 4,000 range.

  • Wow great stuff learned alot about timing those pumps, great video Wayne :)

  • @Needmorehorsepower Thanks for checking the video out Scott.

  • That p pump looks just like the injection pump on the international 466 motor.

  • @wreckingcars72 It might be Bosh uses that pump on alot of motors.

  • I like all your vids, I have learned alot from your vids.

  • @RockinGuy1994 Thank you.

  • @TheDieselStop Your welcome.

  • Ceep'm coming like this !

  • @josderedneck22 Will do.

  • @TheDieselStop Sure do coss ur vids are awesome !

  • ive been waitinggg

  • i noticed you panted the block and you are do a nice job

  • @difflock77 Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  • Just curious, how can a person identify the different pumps? Thumbs up from me.

  • @groutaone The first gen cummins 88-93 are a a VE pump that have the AFC on top of the injection pump. The 2nd gen cummins from 94-98.5 came out with the p7100 pump with the AFC at the back of the pump and 98.5 to the end of 2002 were a electronic pump called the VP-44 even though the motor went to the 24 valve it was still a 2nd gen cummins. 2003 cummins came out with the common rail fuel system. One other way to know was the size of the injection pump.

  • Never really got involved in working on the fuel injection side of diesels, learned something new about the 12 valve watching this video. No wonder the timing cover is prone to cracking, really surprised how big that Bosch pump is.

  • @Graveltrucking Thanks for watching. Alot of people dont realize that that p-7100 pump is that big. That pump weighs around 50 lbs or so. Only 4 studs and 1 bolt hold it on. But it is the best pump that bosh made for the cummins for getting big fuel. You can run Mack plungers in this pump if you had the injectors and turbos to back that much fuel. In that case you would need a bumper sticker on the truck that says "do you mind if I smoke"

  • @TheDieselStop I'am not into the cranking up the the power too much I like the longevity and reliabilty. My brothers 95 12 valve needs a pump rebuild I know how it is uninstalled/installed. I probably won't do the job myself no time. I drive a 6.0 PSD it has been reliable for me, my brothers Dodge the only good thing is the 12 valve the rest of the truck is falling apart. I'am mechanical person so I like watching mechanical videos a person never stops learning.

  • @Graveltrucking I definitely agree with you about the learning and on the falling apart . Heck I show truck after truck with a broke frame or the body cracking apart But you know me I dont bash on what people drive. A car or truck is only as good as its owner treats it.

  • @TheDieselStop really the only thing thats holding me back is cost, do you have any advice as far as were to get parts? Ive tried looking around the internet and havnt found much

  • @carramrod423 What parts are you looking for?

  • Another good and informative video it's looking great and will be running soon.

  • @delmontcrusier Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  • haha you really make it seem easy but i know it takes years of experience to pick it all up. Thanks for making it easy to learn! keep up the good work and health!

  • @manbowv8 Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  • really making me want to tear into my 1st gen

  • That P7100 is a beast of an injection pump. So just making sure, the alignment tools need to be pulled out of the pump and engine block before or after you torque down the injection pump gear lockdown nut?

  • @dawg1157 With the alignment tools in torque the injection pump to 30 LBS then remove the alignment tools then torque to 122 LBS after done check the alignment.

  • did you have any schooling for this or just taught yourself over the years?

  • @TheReal105MX I took 3 years of diesel & auto after highschool 15 years ago.

  • love your vids ....man your good

  • @indianredneck1969 Thanks for the comments.
