Great Video. We had a family move in on our dead tree last year and they are back now. He was banging away at a new nest all day. Very early for them I think. Warmer weather on Long Island, East Islip, NY.

Great job on this video, Ed. We were so lucky last Spring to find this nest so early and have such great weather to follow this Pileated family, in stark contrast to 2011. We are currently following the return of the Mississippi Kites here at the area around the Bloom Elementary School in Rockford, IL. They don't appear to have a working nest as yet. Excellent video of those beautiful birds. I will try to find them too because I have never seen them in the wild . Great find!
