  • i don't see any arrogance in their claims of trying to make peace, these guys are just trying to explain to those who don't understand why we should reach out to criminals, that we are still brothers and sisters with them even though they are hard to forgive, and it probably is one of their public service messages that helps them get arts funding to do this. i don't think they're particularly brilliant in how they express themselves but they seem to be sincere.

  • i have many mixed emotions on this and i dont think anyone should jump to immediate conclusions .watch it a couple of times and take some time with your thoughts. may they be positive or negative.i understand where micheals coming from i just dont know if i agree with " prison concert peace" thing

  • people questioning his perspective. when was the last time you were inside the walls of san quentin.

  • michael, your light sure does shine bright and beautiful. thank you!

  • Michael, you are an inspiration to EVERYONE EVERYWHERE!

  • quote "San Quentin used to be one of America`s most violent prison , now its really peaceful"

    7min50sec .

Wake up Franti you big headed bell end .

  • I definitely agree that that comment in particular, as well as the entire video, was a tad on the pretentious side. San Quentin is now 'really peaceful' is it? How comforting for those doomed to live there for the rest of their lives. Not to mention, those on their way there right now... And who is to thank for this newfound, wonderful, and everlasting peace? Michael fucking Franti of course... Puh lease! Are there really no sane people left on earth?! Michael fucking Franti, SHEESH!!

  • yeah its called "blowing my own trumpet"

  • what was that song starting at 5:20 can someone help me out?

  • It's called Never Too Late by Michael Franti. there's a great video of him speaking at the 2004 RNC and then playing it live. I can send you an MP3 if you'd like.

    peace!

  • yeah so cool man .spread the message ...rrrriiigggghhht !!!

  • why NOT document it? your freaking watching it with the rest of us. no need for ignorance here man. bring it somewhere else

  • up his own arse .why does he not just do what he does .why document it .

  • god bless michael franti and spearhead

  • *PROPER

  • What I feel is unfortunate is the fact that Micheal Franti and his messages have not yet met the masses. Commercial radio and television spends far too much time embracing much less important, and creative artists.

The world needs positive voices like his. very few artists are truly interested in the world around them. I know very few people who have even heard of Spearhead - that is a travesty.

  • A "mistake" is probably drinking too much and saying some stupid shit or getting in a fight--not planning a robbery or knowingly hustling drugs that contribute to the degradation of our communities.

  • if you're concerned about the quality of our communities, it stands to reason that you would thank people for Micheal for helping these people prepare for life on the outside.

  • Have you listened to Franti's music? The fact that many of the people in there are sick and twisted, which seems to be your point, is one of the very reasons Michael Franti should be in there. If anything, he is going to inspire the negativity and any evil in there to change, or at the worst it will have no effect on them. I too believe that people make mistakes, and if you make a bad mistake you could be sent to that hell hole. Franti can give inspiration for those people for good

  • San Quentin is not "peaceful" let me tell you, I know that firsthand. "...he cut a guy from ear to ear then cut off his genitals..." Um,what? Yay! Lets play a concert for them and let them know that we are with them and sympathise with their struggles--undermining their victims and the fact that many inmates are constantly manipulating those who sympathise so much with their current situation. They put themselves in there...

  • watch the video again. Micheal says right up front that he plays music for healing not for reward or punishment.

  • u guys r amazing.. fot all the things do

alot of people on this earth dont experiance what u guys do in one day.. 2 me its jus amazing 2 see. props! keep doin ur thing guys

we need more people like you in this world who inspire and prove that we can make a difference even where others have no hope bcuz the sun has 2 come out after the rain.

thank you.. u have inspired me 2 do someting that i have put off for a while.. thanks guys

  • wow

  • your boy made me shed a drop or two right there!

it's all about carrying the message of peace and love and selfless service and kudos to franti and spearhead for doing exactly that.

interesting bit about that fan having a reaction to the show.

I feel like there is very few people that are there that have no hope of becoming more humane, caring and loving and those that aren't may belong to institutions and not jail.

  • Franti is a true visionary.

See you in Toronto next week.

    Peace Spearits.

  • Excellent. Love that groove at the beginning... what's it called ? Truly powerful sh*t

  • Beginning of Yell Fire!

  • nah, the very first song you hear is from older cd, the song is called Till the Break Of Dawn. It's a really good cd, just the same as the other ones.I've been to numerous concerts of theirs and every single time it is a new amazing connection not only with him but all those who pay witness to the wave of love, peace and oneness he creates. I am very grateful that the world has Spearhead.

    BigBlessings and OneLove

  • Oh, I must have been confused as to which song he meant, Yeah Till the Break Of Dawn plays really low at the beginning, but Yell Fire plays pretty loud near the beginning too.

Anyways, Love everything he has done, I have all his work back through The Disposable Heroes.

  • wow..Franti is truly a revolutionary musician. Shifting hearts and conciousness one performance at a time. The evolution of music as a healing art is changing the world!

  • first comment I think, Great Cash flashback, sound like a good day for the prisoners
