  • Its not perfect word to word translation, the song is in urdu and hindi so m not much into urdu, but translation has the meaning of the song

Whats life without u, even if I have everything,

You r in my eyes than heart is happy and I dont know what lies in path of love,

If u r with me than I have no complaint from life and there is no life even if I have everything but not u

U come or no, will wait for u, even stars are looking for u, without u life is not life even if it is glorified...

unfortunately, I had never heard him before, only heard ABOUT him..

what a simple, soothing, sensitive and yet very elegant rendering!

~ like Pakismine said, and Lovehumanity seconded a month ago, it IS an addictive song, I already have heard it a half a dozen times! I am sure I will come back here and listen to it many times more ...

thank you so much for sharing!

  • I remember watching this very rendition on PTV with my late father. Him explaining the intricacies of the ghazal itself, composition, delivery, accompaniment and, of course, the veritable sound of everlasting Mr. S.B. John. He should be considered a National Treasure of Pakistan. Thank you for putting up this gem of a song and keep it up.

  • addictive song!

  • exactly :)

  • what a fool I was !! Now only I have realized the fact that this song was an old one and not composed by Pritam for the film 'woh lamhe'. One doubt, who is Glen John? is he related to S.B.John?

  • its okay Sir

we all learn by mistakes yaar :)

and NO Glen John is not related to S.B.John to my knowledge.

  • Actually, Glenn John is the son of S B John also has another son called Robin, who I believe also sings very well

  • please if u can send me a message with the translation of the lyrics asap thanx very much!

  • You can get the lyrics.Go to the 1959 version posted by Dr Bukhari

  • Lyrics are here as well..in description. plz check.

  • lovely song

  • thanx.. and u got a lovely name :)

  • My father played this song repeatedly some 40 odd years back. Now I play this song repeatedly and can understand why he did it.Brilliant.

  • friend , theres someone else playing this again and again..ME !!! my wife says Im going mad !

  • Dr. Sahaab, I'd preferred version of 1959, but after Analyzing I prefer 1972 version.? Well in the 1959 version there is much going on. The music although lovely is loud and it wanna give a colour to the song, that is why we prefer '59 one. But there Is also some sound added to the Awaaz of SB (I guess) and that gives his awaaz not the original feelings. So the version of 1972 is better because the music suits the song and his Awaaz is his awaaz No Hi sounds are added. Do correct If wrong plz.

  • Yes Sir there is a differenece..the 1959 version has a loud jhanjer which is incongrous with the mood and temperament of this song..but dont you think in the 1959 version his voice is stronger and more endearing..of course he must have aged and mellowed between 1959 and 1972 ..13 yerars later

  • Well Hello Goodboyla,

Ji I still think the 1972 one is the best one..sorry but his awaaz had the best sound and it is also like a whispering soft mood, i do like that. In the 1959 there is maybe a stronger voice but i doubt it is his voice i think the volume is loud and the added sound is also high..but i do think it is everyone's his/hers own taste. if you like the other one, no problem. And am not a Sir, thnx for replying, bye Aarti.

  • what a beautiful song, ever green one of my favourite song.I can,t under stand after only one sooooooooo popular song where S.B.John vanished? Thank you very much lovehumanity ji ,when i left Pakistan 1976 made a audio cassete of all my favourites frm indo-pak songs this song was also in that tape used to listen in solitude but in 85 i left calgary for good i left in one of friends car including A.nayyar,s private for my last night,s yadgar (mixlolly & bollwd.),jaye app kaha, laga chunrimein, etc.
